Don't suppose you fancy posting up a 'rough' drawing of the tubular sub-frame you mention?

Though I fully understand if you want to keep such info under-wraps at the moment.

But I'd love to see what lines your thinking along.

Also I agree, that keeping your business forum based to start with is a good idea, you'll have no shortage of customers for quality custom parts.

Drawings and pictures will come as I progress, don't want to reveal anything yet! I don't think they'll be a bargin but dam cool, light and stiff!

I don't intend for this to become a full time job, just something extra.

I think I might start to get the ball rolling soon and put together prices etc and see how it goes!

from your rebuild thread ability is not a question. I started a business 1.5 years ago after a sales positions that led to being part off a commercial restructuring program for a very large steel producer. The best thing i can offer in way of guidance is start pro forma in all accounts never hold stock as this is an uncertain cost I.E how long will you need to keep it dry and warm and the cost off this against % margin you may sell at a loss if keep in stock for 6 months. also never undervalue you service product you go in at the cheap end you will stay there unless you have a real urge to fight. if people are happy to pay someone else that price you are worth the same. so if you reduce ova heads to bear minimum you will reduce the possibility of a cash flow problem while you establish a reputation for justifiable quality. buy the way i was bought out this march and am now re generating a local cycle shop so if ya need a bike can do a keen price

I'll be doing it out of my house so over heads will be a minimum, i have most of the tools needed for the job but i might expand with a welder and blast tank if it picks up. I've got suppliers for parts etc so that also isnt a problem. The public liability shouldnt be too bad either, i've been speaking to people from work and got alot of advice regarding it.

Thanks for all the advice, i'll have a good think and see what happens!

good luck to you no such thing as bad idea just one that wasn't planned properly.
Also from reading your thread i may interested in a information exchange program left a good job as i have a beautiful family and needed to spend time with them so as i am now comfortably poor and about to plan and rebuild my s2 might have to pick your brains oh and a f1 blower if one going.

Only problem i see is that the prices of the parts puts most people off.

This forum does not have the market for exotics.

I agree, the subframe thing is just a bit of a project. If I sold 2 or 3 over a few years id be impressed.

I mainly want to be restoring parts and if I can make some trick bits on the side it would be more fun!
