Had the Clio 172 with a modification friendly insurer and had to pay about £75 extra because the car had a basic remap... Fast forward a year and the missus has just insured the car with a main stream company and has just paid a massive £4 extra for the remap Feeling pretty ripped off right now. Moral of the story would seem to be to shop around!

I never declared any mods, until the car was obviously not stock, but things like brakes, wheels, remap, lights, seats, roll bars, suspension etc was never mentioned.
The only reason i started to declare mods was so that the items where valued with the insurer so that should the car have been written off or stollen they would have replaced all the mods at face value too.
Reason for declaring a map, "CAUSE IT ALL OVER THE NET ON FORUMS" and a lot of insurance have people checking them. You have to be honest in England/UK.
I know of somebody who had a Ferrari and had a crash an the insurance wouldnt pay up as one of the ecus was played with an a mate with a Subaru got shafted havin mud flaps on..
