Mmm, if this is the 5 speed then the gearbox is the weak link, I'd refrain from launching it if you want to carry on driving it. I can't see anything in your first post here to indicate that you want it to last though

When it lost drive the ABS light came on on the dash?!

when being towed it wasnt screetching and the abs light was off (Engine running)
when being towed and it WAS screetching and grinding the light was on, how odd!

maby just a snapped shaft or CV?!

not a rear wheel bearing? if you are coming this way, asnu in seaton deleval has a b5 v6 in with a quattro badge on the front... never went any closer than that so cant say for definite if it was anymore than just a badge...

propper scrap yards are a dying thing up the toon arent they, all being closed!

some good ones down here though sam, hope they have an A4 diff or shaft for me on monday!

still any amount up sleekburn way gossy metals has moved to a nice indoor unit. and the pringles deaths door experience is still going strong.. you do have to sign a disclaimer to get in though haha

if you ever go into pringles ask for tony when you go outside the back theres a big concrete building with windows, climb up the cars and look in the windows........ you will see LOTS of very very old stuff

sweet i might just have to do that.. gossy is now in the industrial estate in longbenton (up from the auctions/megabowl etc) with saab on the left of the entrance and mercedes on the right... in there and follow the road round, theres also a euro car parts in there now too. got lots of money for the land they were on, apparently whoever bought it only wanted the road into the place but he sold the lot. theres not even a brake pad left there now. only signs of it ever been there is the pit from the building on the left where they had all the bikes...

Update..........

its done a rear shaft.

i think this is because of how high the car sits, it has a towbar so i suspect it has some spunky long rear springs of some sorts, this would back up the shaft pulling out of the CV and just spinning.

i just ordered some GAZ coilovers, pick them up next week as the ones off my Avant are promised to be sold

Cant belive the climate control still works, making the windscreen get damp!!
