    Jack failure reminder...

Kept this old Jack in the Garage for years... Being a bit lazy today, I grabbed it to jack the S2 up rather than the trolley jack, it got the S2 airborne, then failed...

Fortunately i saw it going and the Wheel was still on, I didn't have the axle stand under it at the time, so it harmlessly dropped back onto the wheel...

Just a bit of a reminder they do fail though...

The Audi Widow maker. You were lucky. I keep a hydraulic jack in my car for roadside usage.

yup very dangerous those jacks, only time i like using one is on extremely lowered cars to lift it slightly to put a proper jack under. They are rubbish

There goes the idea of "upgrading" to a newer one then.

I used to keep a mini trolley jack in my 90s, boot was perfect for it.

The newer ones are just as rubbish, pretty much all standard VAG jacks are. Around 1989/9? they supplied some models with a duel scissor design (Corrado for example) as opposed to single which is a little better. The pic Ian posted is reminder just how dangerous these jacks are when used more than a couple of times.
