Insurance - Who to talk to?

Insurance on the S2 is due this week.. i'm with sky and have a renewal figure but after getting some other quotes really.

Your typical users wont touch me due to the level of mods on the car, which leaves me with the specialists.

From memory i can think of sky and flux.. any others i should look at?

The likes of Lancaster wont touch me i dont think, again down to the mods.

Give Jonathan a call at Pace Ward. I've just renewed with them and got both the RS and the wife's car on one policy at a good price.

Heavily modded cars are a killer especially if you want agreed value. Flux are the only ones offering as far as I am aware, although LWIB (01935 706258) offer 25% discount to forum members depending on amount of AV you require.

I recently insured my S2 with Elephant of all people. Updated brakes, Turbo, Manifold, I/C, MTM Chipset etc on a 4000 mile per year policy. Amazingly, I did not have to contact anyone to go through the specifics as it is all done online, just had to check the various boxes for Modifications and it went through ok. Cannot recall exact cost but it was deffo under 400quid. Im 32 with lots of No Claims and it is garaged etc. I was half expecting them to contact me to go over the exact various components as I checked pretty much all the boxes but the insurance cert came through with £5k Value on it. Obviously claiming would be an experience should it ever be needed but fingers crossed it wont come to that. They can not say I have withheld info from them. They did all the checking with previous insurers to verify my No Claims Discount and did not even want proof of Immobiliser certs like previous insurers have with a variety of cars over the years. Maybe I got lucky (Or unlucky if I ever have to claim) Good luck with finding something suitable.

Forgot to add, it was through the Meerkat comparison site that took me to Elephant.co.uk. Cannot remember which others it brought up but there only 2 or 3 that would offer a price and one of them was astronomical. I was expecting zilch and was preparing to call all the specialists but didn't have to i the end. Having said that, I might have ended up paying slightly over the odds but I was in a hurry to drive it ;-)

                    Elephant are Admiral.

Couple of things though, your mods are only covered up to £500 total. (fine if you just want to stay legal, pita if you want them replaced though)

Also if you did it all online the comparison site makes some assumptions based on the information you provide, this is still your responsibility however.

Argh!! Insurance is frustrating! Im trying to get mine sorted at the mo.
Ive got Similar priced quotes from both Sky and Flux.
TBH neither are particularly cheap at £750-£800 mark, but then i struggle to get insurance companies to even touch my car being a bit of frankensteins monster of Audi and aftermarket parts.
I'd like to stay with Sky tbh (i have another car with them, ive always felt i trust them more than other companies as they've been really pleasant and always very helpful)
But Sky have insisted i need a Cat 2 Immob fitted for that quote and the Flux quote covers my car better in terms of mods etc. should the worst happen and i wouldnt need a new immob.
Major dilemma, going to contact Sky Insurance again and see if they can do better....

Good price that. You must live in a much nicer area than me. Only a brave man would park their car on the road where I live.

Just got off the phone with Sky, theyve agreed to cover me like for like with the mods and agreed valuation of £5500 for similar price to Flux. So i'll be sticking with Sky again

I went with sky insurance for my s2, very friendly helpful. Always wanted to give the best deal I found. They mirrored my no claims off my other car, would come back with cheaper quotes I found and they would under cut the other companies as must don't budge at all. They now have both my cars with them after how friendly and helpful they were. The guy always remembered me also when ringing up just had to say my name and he knew it was the s2 quick off the mark.

Ditto that above, Luke mirrored my no claims of the other car that i have with Sky. They always try their best to be competitive.
