Hi all,
Gutted, after years of driving, I finally got caught. I recall it as well, came round corner (in a 30mph limit) on a lovely wide, perfectly formed road that only went to a 30 from a 40 recently due to another new development nearby and there was plod in his little van, most likely having a small grape juggling moment. Got clocked at 37mph (wish it was more to make it worthwhile) Few months back, you could drive along there at 40mph. Daft.
Anyhow, the annoying thing is that I would have got done in any car but as it was the S2, I feel even more aggrieved.
So, the limit is 30mph, I am at fault, I was definitely driving but it just makes me mad as we all know that speed doesn't kill on it's own, foolish idiots who drive like prats do.
Before I send this back (60quid fine and 3 points or about 90quid for a speed awareness course with no points due to it being my first offence) does anyone have any advice on getting away with this? I kinda like beating the system but think I will struggle with this one. I would quite like a day out to face the
though.
I guess it is cheap and I can just take my medicine but it riles me as all those utter fools who dither around under the speed limit with no consideration, awareness etc for others get away with being a bane on most drivers lives. A colleague is driving around on bald tyres, my girlfriend seems more preoccupied with looking out of any window other than the front windscreen and I have lost count of how many dings my cars have suffered over the years by people who then drive off in carparks. As long as they stick the limit, they are allowed to create havoc whilst we dodge them.
The law is an ***!
S2 is tucked away in the garage now, as salt started going down on the roads the other day. It will see light of day each week for a turnover and warm up and down etc. Will also give me a chance to sort out a stereo and do a couple of little snagging jobs. Will try and get some photos up as well. Seems fair as I enjoy seeing everyone elses pride and joys. Just been too busy driving (too quickly it would seem) to get the camera out.
Has anyone got any other advice for leaving a car over winter. Handbrake is off with bricks behind tyres on a flat surface. First time I have had a 2nd car off the road for a period.
Now off to get some more penalty points in my daily driver, the mighty Citroen ZX Volcane ha ha. It can just about reach 37mph with a tail wind. Roll on Spring.
