Good idea Shane but I think I will just cough up the 90quid and waste half a day being spoken to by a sanctimonious git.

Would not get a whinge out of me if there were coppers out on the road stopping all the dangerous idiots. Was driving towards Coventry earlier today in that awful weather. Think it is the A46 but could not believe how many people are driving along without lights on! I mean, what? Visibility with spray is next to nothing and at one point this guy flashes me from behind, I presume because he thinks I pulled out on him. I most likely did, due to him not having lights on and being effectively invisible. He deffo knew where his buttons and stalks were though as he spent the next mile flashing his lights at me. When he had satisfied his pitiful existence by overtaking when I had the chance to pull over, he continued ahead onto the next car about 2 lengths back from it in appalling weather still with no lights on. Sigh!

Anyhow, time to forget about it and get on with more positive things. Cheers for the comments.

Take the course for sure... look at it this way, if you get caught again you'll only have 3 points on your license, not an insurance-killing 6.

Think of it as a get out of jail free card.

Quite some time ago I remember being told about a situation where they were forced to reverse the speeding tickets and fines. Police had redesignated a stretch of road from a 40 to a 30 limit. They'd posted new signs and were happily catching all the unsuspecting drivers.

Not sure how it happened, or of all the details, but it came to light that there was a problem with the application to change the speed limit. I'm not sure if it's some kind of planning application.

Anyway, they were forced to reverse all the convictions.

Probably won't help, but you never know.

I'd go along with the advice.

I did one a few years back and avoided the points which further down the line (when I'd added another 6) would have caused me serious bother

Also, don't these take 5 years to shift from your licence these days??

The letter says points last for 3 years but stay on the licence for 4yrs for Insurance purposes which seems a bit harsh. Either have it as 3 or 4yrs surely.

In unrelated news, I cut my hair today and cleaned the birdshit off the bonnet before putting it away properly for the winter. Took a couple of (rubbish) pics but will post in a new thread if I can upload them. Memory card is being as difficult as semi sleeping policeman in white vans.
