Hello, I have an S2 Avant with Cup alloys on, I am currently running 245/40/17 front and back. I am experiencing tyre wear on the insides of the front wheels. Had the camber checked etc but still wearing. I have tried them at 36 and 40 psi without any success. Do I need to be running a slimmer tyre like 225 on the front to stop this inner tyre wear.
The Dunlop SP8000 is the ONLY tyre you can fit to the RS2 7 inch rim with 245x40/17. There have been cases of the tyres rolling off the rim under duress when other makes have been fitted.
Any other tyre must be 225x45.
Kind regards
Phillip Kjær Ballegaard

Hi Phillip thanks for the info, I will get the fronts changed to 225/ 45 asap much appriciated
Well, I`m not so sure of that.I run 245-40-17 Michelin`s,and on the fuel door there is a sticker which says to use this size.YMMV.Oh, and my tire wear is very good.No problems seen yet.
Seem to remember some strange story about certain tyre manufacturers using 245 size stamp on tyre wall but tyre actually measuring 225 or am I going mental

Yep, that's the tyre i'm reffering to, the Dunlop SP8000 245/40 R17 was special build to the RS2 Porsche 7X17 cup rims, and was discontinued in 2003. But infact they weren't 245, but 225.

Hi Jelle, went to get some tyres fitted and I have gone for 225 Pirrelli's, as 245 do look massive when put up against the alloy, so hopefully all will be well.
This is for an S2 avant though so the RS2 related posts are irrelevant.
What width are the Cup replicas. If they're 7.5, a 245 width tyre will be fine
Mike, can you explain the above further, as apart from the rating of the shocks and the ARB's, I thought the suspension components on an S2 and an RS2 were the same ?
For the purposes of the above query, I'm factoring out any differences there might be relation to the suspension adjustments settings of camber, and toe etc. for the two models.
