What I don't spend of car loan repayments, I spend on petrol.

I have the same chips that Spink has, economy is broadly the same as you report <16mpg at the mo around town, 20-24 on a mixed run, 26+ on the motorway.

my car would not run correct with homefries rs2 chip it even failed the mot emissions.
car runs to rich not a good set up , now running mrc 1.8 bar chip and drives excellent
dont care about fuel if i did would have bought a diesel , but i still manage 19 mpg around town driving and thats always a quick drive home

Well last night took it out and I can tell you it was ****** freezing ,defo in the minus figures and sat at 70 for a while and achieved 28mpg then couldn't resist some 3 rd gear pulls and went down to 14!

The exhaust pops and bangs on gear change and when you lift off completely sounded proper group b style! I remember reading gregs project thread on here ages ago and him reporting that the tone of the exhaust had changed and I can certainly varify

What injectors you using? I upgraded from single to better atomising 4 hole injectors on my 7A and made a noticeable difference when cruising, hence why I will be using 4 hole 440cc Bosch injectors on my upgraded 20vt, let you know what it can do once block run in and mapped later next year

Setup is:

Rs turbo new
Rs injectors new
Rs ex mani
Rs inter cooler
Rs air box
3 inch turbo back zorst no cat just one small silencer
V-stream although seeing as I only ever see 1.5 bar I wonder if in fact it is an n-stream

My old RS2 would do 19-21 on a journey and 14-12 around town/nailing it. The S2 with RS2 set up is doing 34-38 on a journey taking it easy and 19-22 around town/nailing it. The fuel economy on the S2 has always been great. The worst was when it was standard! Got better homfried and no worse RS2'ed! Have you got an inlet leak thus the reason for the popping?

with n-stream you should be seeing atleast 1.7bar boost,unless you have boost leak.

with v stream u should see 1.9 overboost and 1.5 holding up rev range.
when i first done mine i had loads of manifold boost leaks but still would not go over
1.5 bar max. after several months i finally found it was a weak wastegate spring and perfectly held at 1.5 bar max , if you want you can try my chips

I had a set of Paul N chips in my standard AAN, and could easily get 25mpg when going easy. I changed to Volvo 7400 and RS2 injectors and noticed a decent drop in economy, I'm averaging 18-19mpg. Up to 23 on a long run without even looking at the throttle. Paul live mapped my car starting from a RS2 chipset.

Oh that would be great if I could ! What do they say on them ? Mine just say motor and turbo iirc but I saw some that said 390 on them

Have you considered that there might be a slight mismatch between the set up for the chips and what you have.
If they are RS2 based then you are probably missing the resistor in the ecu for the maf and the 3.8 bar fpr.

Yes to be honest have had thoughts about fpr and rs fuel pump etc but did some searching on here and others seemed to be doing well on a fairly standard any setup ie no rs air box or updated exhaust

you will not see 1.9bar with v-stream chips

I got my chips from hoffer it made 396hp, from what i remember it was about 15-20 whilst driving it very hard, and it ran a tad over 2 bar
