If got a 55plate passat estate. Really nice for general pottering about, good on fuel and big enough for 5 adults if needed. Only problem I have really had is the dual mass flywheel **** the bed and needed replaced over Christmas that was nearly £400 for the parts then I fitted it myself. This was on a 1.9tdi 100bhp.

Black VW Touran, 2.0d with chip, with DSG, black leather, air con, S8 Avus. would be the sensible bet.

Otherwise a C4 Avant diesel quattro. As it is older it may require fiddling with and cost a bit of money to have it the way you might like.

Slightly off topic, I drive my urS6 as a daily for the last 6months plus, used my wife's Touran and the traction light came on frequently, as one forgets the perfect traction provided by a B4 or C4 quattro.

      Just saying.....

Post details of your purchase in due course.

The car is for my wife. After many years of spending, taxing, fixing, etc I told her its your turn to shell out some money for a car.She atm is quite keen on a blue audi A4 avant sline. Not sure its gonna be big enough though! She thinks A6's are huge. She also likes the newer shape passat estate too.

My wife was very sceptical of my C5 RS6 plan... too fast, too big, impractical...

She prefers driving from our Golf TDi now - it's faster, better visibility, can fit the 3 kiddie seats in the back at a squeeze and our toddler can't kick the back of the seats, radio sounds much better and it has sat nav. And you can fit a pram + shopping in the back with ease.

When it starts doing more than 300 miles a month though, it's gonna have to get swapped for a TDi as thats expensive enough as it is lol. But she insists it has to have some guts and all the toys.

I own an Audi a4 avant s line 130 tdi. Great car. Back seat space isn't huge but fits me the wife and kids in no prob. Boot space isn't vaste but not bad.

I owned an Octavia vrs before and the inside space and boot on that was vast. Great car that I miss. Sold it to a mate who promptly wrote it off..

loving my octavia scout...petrol economy isn't that bad either but tank is small due to 4x4. Tons of car for the money, end up laughing at those driving an A4 allroad costing 15k more

Well I am getting some good ideas, somewhere between an RS6 and a skoda then-that's narrowed it down
I think that rear back seat room and boot space is the most important. The little mans legs still clash with the recaros in the S2,which is bad for him and even worse for seatsHe has to sit on the passenger side and we have the seat pull right fowards

Good choice Ross ................................. I run mine as a daily having 4 kids, it was my only option as the a4 is too small. Ohh and it's not fast enough

Looking for some info on what would be a good buy in the estate world.Don't really need a diesel but am willing to give one a go.Quite tempted to stay in the vw/audi family.
Please DO NOT suggest any type of mpv's,can't stand the sodding things.
Has to be a few years old,max price around £6000
                            cheers
How about a Ssang Yong Rexton,
                            They're Looooovely

Would save you a fortune in diesel, cos you'd be too embarrased to drive the **** thing
