  • Part No. needed

    Hello,

i have a 1990 audi s2 coupe and the fuel pump is dying... can someone give a part no. of the fuel pump. and is there an alternative to the OEM pump? and what parts must i change with the pump?

Fit either an RS2 pump or a Bosch Motorsport 044 pump.

The RS2 pump fits the OE basket but is taller, so needs to be held in place with some additional restraints (read cable ties or wire) and also make sure you get a banjoo or the OE fitting to attach the pipe. RS2 pumps come up secondhand quite often and will work for up to 400bhp.

The 044 swap is well documented on here and will see you right for 400+ bhp.

Rusty's suggestions are good but only really needed if you are going to RS2 levels and above (say above 360 hp). Otherwise the stock 3B fuel pump is PN 8A0906091G. This is also the NM, 7A, AAH, ABC, AAN and ABY fuel pump. Manufacturers include VDO, Bosch, Pierburg and others. I would go VDO or Bosch. Bosch requires some wiring changes at the pump connection.

Here is some 091G info: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/22623.phtml

      Here is a pdf about replacing a 091G in a C4 (B3s and B4s will be similar):

As long as you just remove the pump from the basket and not the basket, it isn't hard at all.

You can follow my C4 DIY for guidance http://12v.org/urs/Fuel%20Pump%20Tes...eduresRev3.pdf

or the attached Audi 90 fuel pump replacement pdf (which involves the basket removal):

                    I think you meant 895 906 091A (not 905).

895906091A *was* a valid FP PN until March 31, 1994, then it was dropped in favour of:

                    895906091B fuel pump
985201779G reservoir, upper part (item 3 below)
895201262 banjo bolt (item 7 below?)
                    N 0110691 cap nut (item 4 below?)

                    But wait, the fun continues:

On Jan 1. 1996, 895906091B was dropped in favour of a 895906089D fuel pump.

Now it gets stupid (I hope there is a bottomline eventually)

895906089D was dropped on Sept 30, 1995 (where are the continuity checkers when you need them?) in favour of a 895906089E.

The 895906089E still seems to be valid but it is listed as the KV, NG, NM and 7A fuel pump. The 3B should be 8A0906091G.

You would need the standard 43 mm standard basket to run the 091G style pump. The fact that you already have a 60 mm basket means that there is essentially a non-brainer to go 044 (which many people upgrade to when going to RS2 levels and above, i.e. 360 hp +)

                            Hi all

Does anyone know the size/thread for this fitting please? I either need an OEM one or hopefully search the catalog on a banjo fitting website.

It should be the stock part in a ABY fuel tank I believe, but I don't have one.

                            Many thanks!!!! image_91088.jpg

The stock ABY pump doesn't have a banjo fitting on its exit, it uses a push on hose fitting with hose clip as per the photo in posting #3 above in this thread.

If at some time your pump has been upgraded (RS2 spec or Bosch 044) then you might find a banjo fitting in which case you could reuse that.
