    Glass Sun Roof Panel Removal

Have spent a few hours today trying to remove the glass sunroof panel from my Coupe so I can replace the seal, but I am not getting anywhere !!

As far as I can see, I need to remove 3 screws each side so I can lift the panel clear of the operating mechanism.

Trouble is, when roof is tilted, I cant get to the forward one on each side as there is a black plastic trim which obscures the screw head.

The trim is secured to the glass roof panel with a couple of screws which I have also removed in case I could slide the trim backwards into the roof lining to give access to the panel attachments, but although it's now loose, it doesnt want to slide independently of the glass panel.

Can anybody point me in the right direction and explain what I am doing wrong.

    Cheers in advance !!

Hi. The two small phillips screws that hold the plastic trim to the front edge of the panel must be removed. Then SLIDE the plastic trim towards the rear to expose the area you need to get at.

Close the roof to the normal closed position. NO TILT. Then slide the trim back.

Then TILT up to do the front side screws. Ounce out gentley but with some force to lift the plate glass out.

      Hi, thanks for your reply.
I removed those screws, but the trim would not slide backwards.
Does it slide easily or does it need some force ?

        slide

Hi. One trick is OPEN the roof a few inches. That will allow you to pry down on the plastic trim to get it over the steel frame portion of the glass plate.

Then slide it bacl into the stowage area. CLOSE the roof and then tilt up. The trim may want to come back but it should slide easily back into the stow area.
