Yep, love the smell of leather, nineties plastic and petrol. It smells and feels like a proper car....

I had a C4 100 quattro avant briefly a couple of years ago. One of the things I liked was the 70's retro slight smell of fuel (it nostalgically reminded me of car sickness in journeys over 10 miles when a kid)...... until it turned out to be a leaky fuel tank - notorious and almost impossible to source a solid replacement. So I patched it (like the previous owner) and got rid. I replaced it with a C5 A6 2.4 quattro - it still smelt new at 70k.

Apart from the family 4 x 4 I now have fack all and walk/cycle to work

old to new. I prefer the older stuff.

although ultimately performance may not be as good the feel and drive, steering etc is better, for me.

the s2 was ok. felt heavy, steering a bit vague ish until properly sorted. A4 is not really for me. its repmobile. or rs4 is execmobile.

the b3 16v q is lighter, nicer steering, some bits seem better made contrary to whats usually said. its a better drivers car in essence.

to be honest I don't really feel audi do good drivers cars. what they do is cars that an average man can use in a spirited manner without being sideways.

the corrado G60 was a far better drivers car but not as fast as s2.
