I have had both as coupe's and I stuck with the 3B and sold the ABY.

Just out of preference I like the 5 speed over the 6 speed box.

The 6 speed box is reported as being stronger but I guess it's how you drive it and what power output you want to run.

I have however moved the battery tray under the seat like an ABY as it gives more room under the bonnet.

The 3B body shell is actually a lighter shell.

The single mass flywheel is fitted to the 3B but can also be retrofitted into the ABY

And I am in process of running an ABY loom and aftermarket coil packs on my 3B but keeping the dizzy just for the haul sender so it's easily accessible without removing the whole front end of the car if it packs up.

The 3B uses a single downpipe as opposed to a split ABY version which is useful for running larger systems off but generally folks go for a full 3" front to rear.

And I wonder just how many 3B cars are left as they tend to be broken far more often than ABY's???

Whichever you choose best of luck and happy spending, modding, crying and eventually smiling your face off every time you drive it

i bought my 3b as it the variable were not realy an issue for where i wish to take the car

i wanted an s2, logically to achieve my goal there are far more suitable cars i would say forget the differences and find one you like with the right back ground.

mine is a bit hit and miss but only in areas i want to change so fits my bill

Great some intesting thoughts and replies thanks all . Tbh I don't wanna mod it so its big hp will prob keep pretty standard ... May change for bigger alloys, black Roose hoses etc but want to keep an original look to it.

Last car I resto'd with biggish power was an escort rs cosworth , 330bhp and tbh that was scary enough !,

I want another s2 as I love the look of them especially with 17 or 18 " alloys on em, and now they're pretty rare cars, still think one of the best looking car Audi have ever made.

When I had two years ago they were very quick modern cars back then ! ......

ive got an ABY and a 3B.
i actually prefer to drive the 3B. it feels more like a sports car.

I agree , I run a 3b , I think they are a bit more retro and the closest you will get to a ur , plus most stuff from an aby can be retro fitted

Driven both.. own a 3b...love the more 'basic' quality it has..and just because it gets ranked below the Aby by people on here-that just gets my back up so I'll stick with that model, even if I ever sell mine-I'll get another 3b

I think almost everyone will agree the best coupe is actually a combination of both 3B and ABY

Pics??? And there is nothing wrong with a slipper wagon... they surprise alot more things than people in coupes as its not expected from a model with space for haulage lol
