I'm already paying 1,100 road tax on an S2 and that's only because our new government lowered our road license from 1,500 euros that it was before!

I was tempted to just bring one down unregistered and as you said if they come after me, they ain't gonna catch an RS2

If you buy a very modern car here, say a Bentley, over the price you pay for the car abroad, you have to pay almost the same price in Registration tax, making the car cost you double

Well the traffic is pretty rubbish, the roads are pretty rubbish, everything is pretty rubbish if you're a car enthusiast in Malta . Hopefully with a new government that's been set now, they might fix the ridiculous registration scheme..thankfully they reduced the maximum road license from 1,500 to 1,100 which is quite an improvement already

Buy one and move to Australia. It'll cost around $800 a year for registration/tax and if you ever need parts it'll be $12,000 for a nut and bolt by the time it gets here from the uk or USA or any other country. Australia + Audi spare parts=

I think you're right some countries in europe might operate that way(someone told me France, but who knows). Seems a fairer way to do it.
