Another bad thing about a vent to atmosphere BOV with a MAF is that every time you change gear a load of fuel gets dumped into the cylinders resulting in bore wash which will do your rings no favours at all. Stick with a decent quality recirculating unit - if you want noise get an adjustable one and set it up so you get a bit of flutter at low boost, or spend a bit of time making some effective heat shielding around a cone filter.

I had a GFB fully adjustable one fitted when I first put my S2 back on the road, it worked OK but I decided it was more trouble than it was worth and put a 710N back on. Plus I don't like the weight of most the aftermarket units hanging on the boost pipes. The best bet IMO if you want a bit of blow off noise is to either drill the crap out of the underside of the airbox or fit a cone filter and a load of shielding.

I'd also replace all the small bore pipe in the engine bay with 4 mm Diesel leak off pipe as it's often the source of small boost leaks.

Andy I saw your motor down prozzie ally there looks fantastic....love the paint work mate....I don't know what you look like so would have said hello...so span "Spike" back around and gave it some throttle knowing you would know the sound of another S2 .....so that was my way of saying hi !!
