Anyway car is not as described (what else is new )

After having a brief look at it, it will need the following and I'm sure there is more to follow:
    - rear bumper (is deformed around the tail pipes)
    - windscreen (I believe the seller stated that so can't complain)
    - door cards (at least the front ones because they got speaker holes, IIRC they weren't present in the pics I was shown)
    - door pocket is missing on the drivers side
    - drivers seat is looking pretty tired but I know this ain't a new car..
    - central locking does not work
    - rear left window won't open
    - handbrake does not work (calipers broken/seized)
    - various dents on doors and front wings (not all can be 'pushed' out)
    - paintwork is bad

I haven't driven the car but I'm sure there is more than the above.

    So what's good about it:
    - all 4 tyres are new as I was told
    - as far as I can see it is indeed a rustfree car which I'm happy about

So all in all there is much work to get it how I want it to be. I'm going to have a look at the pics again (if they are still online) and see how they compare to the real state of the car.

One thing I have learned by now is that very few sellers can be trusted and my standards are in a different league compared to others in the type 85 scene
Honestly, rust is the biggest issue, small cosmetics aren't a big deal in my book.

When it comes to buying and selling cars, we all have different "scales" the car i bought was described as a 9 out of 10 for paint, i'd give it a 6, maybe 7 if you consider the age. but the truth is, we all have our pickyness and thoughts on where a car 'rates'

I know I should have copied the pictures from photobucket, they are gone now as well as on eBay I'm pretty sure there were no speaker holes in the door pockets though for example.

And I have just discovered the trunk lock is in the 'open' position but the lid won't open and also the lock can not be operated with the key
Also I can't find the paperwork in the car, but it may still be at the shipping agent over here.

Yes I know we all have different scales, but calling an interior immaculate I expect it to be very good, I have just sold my 1985 coupe quattro and that interior was far better than this one, how should I have described that?

There is more, but I will try to discuss it with the seller first. All in all I'm not impressed and don't think I should not contact the seller only because it's rust free

          Try online websites like http://archive.org/web/

i've got lucky with pictures that previously was removed from ad's.

Also if you have any of the original pictures use google image search, he may have them hosted elsewhere

I will give it a try, thanks.
Also I will just ask the seller, maybe he will supply me the pics when I ask for them.

I do not know what the seller advertized but the car in the pics i saw was asking for a complete respray.
Rear calipers..old car.If the seller had replaced them 100% he would mentioned that cost.
                  There are some situations:
1.Car with very low millage mint condition and 3 subgroups:
a)seller knows what car he has and asks 15k
b)seller does not know what car he has and asks 2k(almost no chances of finding something like that on the internet. When somebody sells something searches some similar things on the internet)
c)seller knows the real value for his mint car but he needs the space or the money and needs to sell quick(that i think is dreaming)

2.Car with moderate condition. That will have SOME OF COMMON type 85 problems:
                  -rear calipers
-door cards bad(they are made of wood under the fabric and wood does not like moisture)
-sun visors deteriorated by sun(specialy if they have illuminated mirrors),or mounting clips broken
-dash cover has some triangular shape grills that fall down
-trunk lid/licence plate plastic cracked in the area where you put your hand and lift the lid
                  -rust
-all mechanical problems(jetronic injection problems, radiator leaking etc etc etc etc)
-all electrical problems(rear lights bulb holders oxidized, electric windows not working etc etc etc)
-sunroof not opening/closing or seal problems
                  -door handles not operating ok

The seller knows all of that and puts all in the advert.I think if i want to be honest when selling a car i will forget some of them,or if i sell a car that i do not know as much as b2,b3,b4 audi i will not know many of them)

The price reflects what you get.And MANY times big price does not mean you get much more.Better with a 3k car that needs a paint that 5k for a badly painted one.

Be happy with no rust and air conditioning.

                  Enjoy your rare car!!

Not really mate. Too busy rebuilding our house and don't want to start a thread untill I start working on the car.

All I can say is Rob Moyer from Portland, Oregon is a right prick.

I was looking on google lately for Audi 4000 in general and came across this Facebook page about the Audi 4000 https://www.facebook.com/Audi-4000CS...3/?ref=profile where links were posted to cars that Rob Moyer sells on ebay. I then felt I needed to post my findings with him, including the video I made of the car right after I got it home.

Below is the message I posted on the 4000 Facebook site and want to share it with you guys as well. Just a warning if anything.

                            Hi all,

I noticed there are some links here to cars that the so called enthusiast Rob Moyer had for sale.

Well I bought a 4kq off him and it is by no means as described, even the pics in the ebay auction were not the actual pics.
Since I live in the Netherlands I bought the car based on his words over the phone and the text in the auction. I'm really disappointed in this guy and angry about the fact the abused my trust.
Ofcourse he did not respond to my e-mail when I received the car and told him what is wrong with it.

Therefore I want to warn anyone to deal with him unless you can see what you buy in real life.

I made this video when I got the car, the text balloons show the text from the auction versus my findings with proof in the video.

Here is the link to the ebay auction I bought the car from http://www.ebay.com/itm/231223230844
Unfortunately it doesn't show the pics as one would clearly see that the doorcards did not have speaker holes for example. Even the metal of the door itsself is damaged. I'm pretty allergic when it comes to these things so I would not even have bought the car because of that. Add the other disappointments to it and one can imagine why I'm fed up with Rob Moyer.

                            Buyer beware!

Will be at least another year before I can start to work on the car, will be looking for parts in the meantime to make a good car out of it.

Ahh, sorry that I didn't see this thread faster. I had deal with Rob. (I'm glad I paid him through paypal) I bought some rareish USA spec B2 parts from him. First of all I needed to start a claim in paypal to get a response from him when I paid him, there was 2weeks of hearing nothing from him. Afterwards he responded, sent me the parts, I received them and was shocked. There was multiple tabs broken of clusters, mirrors had cut wires, missing half of the parts we talked about. I was truly unhappy. Non of the parts did actually work. I paid 500€ for peace of crap in thin cardbox from USA. The packaging was terrible, I live quite far away from USA and you need to understand how to pack them carefully. So paypal saved me in the end, I got from him missing parts in another batch, sold everything as not usable for spares got my money back and in the end cancelled the claim, if I would have seen this thread would not do that 100%, cause I really thought that it has been a misunderstanding and his a good seller. So yes, I feel for you Patrick and now how it is.

P.S. Can see ebay last negative feedback for Treser UR, where the buyer is very unhappy with his new car for 26k.

I knew I was not alone, sorry to hear about your bad experiences with him as well.
Not long after I bought the car I received an e-mail from a guy in the States that knows Rob and told me the same story about him being a lying c*nt.

When I asked him about the shipping costs over to Rotterdam before the purchase he said it was $1500, he did not tell me the car had to be transported from his place to the port for another $500. All in all it cost me a lot of money, but at least I received it so it could have been even worse...
