Oh the irony (smashed up lotus)

This esprit lives down the road from me,has done for a year or so.Really nice car,so much so the owner had the idea of 'protecting' it by putting a piece of foam with a glove hanging off the back of it as shown in this picture

Its caused quite a bit of a stir around here as some deemed it to be a hazard due to having to veer into the other side of the road to avoid it,people were removing the foam in the night etc so the lotus owner installed cctv at the front of the house to catch them,he put the footage on facebook trying to out the thief but it back fired and he ended up getting slated for causing the hazard to other cars.

On friday afternoon some woman 'feinted' while driving past and smashed the fook out of it,shame as it was stunning.

It looks an affluent area so why did he not put it on the drive?

Probably left it out in the road to satisfy his 'stuffed marigold' fetish...

Here, its not a secret symbol for some local 'Gentlemans washroom club' is it...?

I have no idea . That never entered my mind at all but i now know you have a vivid imagination and a wicked sense of humour.

Quite a few houses on that road don't have a drive, for the money they are worth you would expect one though tbh

That looks like a 1 and a half street as I call it where there aren't actually two lanes because of cars parked on the side of the road. Recipe for disaster and wouldn't think twice about parking my car on a street like that..

The road down home is like that and I dread it

                Shame about his car though.

You do not keep a rare/expensive/special/no full insurance at market value car in the street.

It's still not nice to see another classic getting damaged

Real shame, always had a soft spot for old Lotuses as they were the first real SuperCar I saw in the flesh when I was a kid........ Very sad..

I drove past it myself this morning, its still sat there but has been moved more onto the road,I would have thought the insurance company would have shifted it by now.Looks like the front inner wing area has taken all the impact, not sure if something like that can be repaired on a fibreglass shell or not,or maybe would need a complete reshell.

It can be repaired. I have been part of two rebuilds on Lotus Esprit's that involved fiberglass repair along with frame repair. It involved body off of frame on both. One was a rear quarter & the other was a front clip replacement. Both cars were repaired from a single doner car.
