At least the bones are there and you can add the meat after you pay taxes

Yes. maximum is about 35% based on a high CO2 rating so anything fun means higher tax
It's especially painful if you think about a newish A6 3.0tdi quattro or something that you might pick up for 25,000€ in Germany and then looking at the Finnish equivalent pay 15,000€ more in tax.

For my coupe the only 7A quattro I can see right now is listed at 3,500€ so I might be looking at something like 1200€??

Cheers Andy. I'm not honestly sure yet. If I can arrange it for a decent price I'd like to send it from Wales to Germany, where a good friend will perform some magic on it. Then i'd just fly from Helsinki to Germany at some point and drive back via Denmark, Sweden and ferry to Finland.

I'm still trying to engineer a work trip to Scotland so I can drop in to see everyone. it's been way too long.

Nice acquisition! I love panther black.

Are you passing through Scotland when you are collecting the car, or staying down south?

thanks guys. it does feel good to be back. and yeah I think I'll tell the missus when I'm nipping out for.. erm.. a few days to pick up a car in the UK and drive it back to Finland. It would probably be rude if I said I was going out for milk and came back a week later with a car. although not the first time. well.. I popped out to see a mate for an hour and came back 6 hours later with a coupe.

so anyway.. Sandy, I think my neighbours would take exception to the same pile of cars I used to have in Glasgow. Plus I can't bloody afford them here. Hence buying a 24 year old French car in Wales! Thankfully I have a decent double garage so I have space to work on it without offending the neighbours too much. My boys are always shouting about a black racing car so I have a feeling that if I still have it in another 10 years or so I might be back pedalling on my ancient promises to supply them with a black audi racing car

    Welcome back!
I always tell my wife about the cars I've bought (well, the ones within sight anyway)
I stash the rest on my mates farm now.
I've decided to be a hoarder there instead, and have about 6 cars lined up ready once I finish my building work.
