How much would it cost to take a standard s2 upto between 400hp - 600hp?

    hi all

    i'm new to this site.

been looking to but an s2 for a while.

been watching youtube at the amazing power some produce.

could anyone tell me what the estimated cost would be to get between 400hp - 600hp in the safest manner?

i would prefer to buy one running at this power but would be prepared to take on the challenge!!

    uk only please

look forward to hearing from you all

    hopefully with good news!!

      Welcome.

You posted this in the cars for sale section.

if you want an S2, try a wanted ad and it is difficult to answer your question about cost of power output, as the range you speak of includes a variety of options (and costs) 400bhp can be achieved with bolt on extras using fairly stock internals I think. 600bhp for example though would most likely include ripping the engine apart and strengthening it in different ways, on top of the obvious extras like turbos, manifolds, IC's etc.

There are many threads on the forum (try keywords in the search box) that detail different peoples projects, turbo choices and cost of engine rebuilds and what is required to achieve a vareity of targets. Have a good read up and happy hunting.

400 hp --- with OK engine, 3000 Euro
600 hp --- with clutch and exhaust and rebuilding the engine, I mean everything you need to make the car driveable, I think at least 10.000 Euro

Simply, pick a number, add a 0 and then double it...

RS2 setup is about £3k all in, with a 3" exhaust, that's 350bhp. A different turbo and custom map will get 400 for about £1000 extra.

Fully built 500bhp+ is well in to the £10-15k range with all new parts.

In the middle, it's all about how much risk you want to manage, such as stock rods, stock clutch, stock suspension... etc.

              Thanks guys

Was looking buy a half decent s2, after what you have told me prob update a few parts and remap to around 350hp as the costs could sour into thousands!!

Unless you no where the is a cheap 500hp anywhere

                  Welcome!

No such thing as a cheap 500 unless you are buying a car that someone else has already build
As above the difference between 400 and 600 is massive, £10-12k at least. Probably more like £20k by the time everything else is taken care of, brakes, suspension, drivetrain etc.
Stock engine with the right turbo and a few other bits coupled to some decent brakes will give you a reliable 400+hp car for street use

A follow up on my post, I made a 430 HP engine some time ago, so I can tell you the cheapest way. But this will be cheap only if that engine is OK and it doesn't need to be rebuilt.
                    So I paid:
the turbo new- Holset HX35 - 750 Euro
                    replica EM 2nd- 80 Euro
2.5t Volvo engine injectors new - 250 Euro
                    single mass flywheel 2nd - 80 Euro
76mm exhaust straight from the turbo with scream pipe and a final box - 600 Euro
Fuel pump, can't remember the brand now, new - 60 Euro
Sachs Racing clutch and pressure plate new - 600 Euro
Other small mods (turbo oil lines, modifying the boost hose, etc) - 100 Euro
                    Remap - 400 Euro

So the total is 2920 Euro.

                    Everything else has remained stock.
You can see the car running here with the above setup, with one of the first remaps.

So basically you can make the car run with only everything above, but it's not recommended.
After this I've upgraded, the coils, the oil cooler, the engine mounts, subframes bushes, diff bushes, the air filter, got a AFR gauge, etc etc etc etc etc

agrre with above if engine is good and you get parts cheap. I bought when stuff was cheaper and the exchange rate was good too. don't think the above has counted costs of other bits needed to going straight on and not stopping although they are mentioned.
I did scats with skimmed pistons, 7A CAMS, WAGNER tubes, inlet and intercooler, Vems, 650cc injectors, sc61 turbo, 3 inch system, 044 pump.

then theres the grand or so into gauges, grand in brakes, grand in suspension, 500 in bushing etc.

then engine is only half the cost.
