    End of an Era !

Another forum member came down to the garage yesterday to take away the shell from my V6 Coupe quattro
Apart from a few random parts lying around that's just about it ! It was a sad and solemn occasion but owing to the fact it never was or would be an S2 I feel I made the right decision in breaking her ! (although this does not stop me from feeling a bit gutted)

I ended up making far in excess of what I originally had her up for sale for so it hasn't been all 'doom and gloom'. A consoling fact is that the shell will NOT go to the scrappers where it will be crushed into a suitable Audi shaped ball and parts have gone as far away as Italy,USA and all over the British isle's

Here are a few pics of my ownership from the first when I purchased her in Feb 2002 to yesterday :

    ADI 2009

    ADI 2011

Major highlight in ownership going on Castle Combe Circuit ADI 2011 (albeit low speed )

Major Highlight #2 being on the Forum stand @ ADI 2013

Hopefully this will not be the end of J439 RPM as the new owner already has a 3B lump in a FWD coupe and is hoping to re-shell it into my quattro shell

Eagerly awaiting your project thread Chris

    Its been emotional
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

Not sure Alex. I have a beemer now and after reading loads of reviews about the model I was after 'apparently' its all the car I ever wanted. Solid build, last of the proper ones, no reliability issues whatsoever, blah, blah, blah !

It looks lush and it goes well, another forum member actually mistook it for a M5
I know there not everyone's cup of tea but they are German and you just can't fault how they screw them together

I have refused to buy anything non-German for the last 20 years, it makes sense and keeps me sane !

Did have a look at a few Audi's but really wanted something that fell between a S3 and S4 if that makes sense ! A tiny budget of around 5k limits things Audi
1.8T or V8 ? Hmmm ! V8 will be heavy on juice around town as a daily but S3's seem to look, well a bit lame

The gearbox is doing a good job of keeping my car going, sad to see it gone though. I hope the engine on the floor wasn't too much of a problem for you!
