Sorry £5XX is five hundred and something I cant remember, but it was in the £500-£599 range.

Buy online or send them an email

    sales@allgermanparts.co.uk

    I understood lemforder were oem

A rough list from srs was

Cheapest sets on Ebay = Rubbish that lasts around 12 months if you're lucky.
ECP / GSF = Rubbish that lasts around 12 months if you're lucky (allegedly)
Febi = decent value, quality seems reasonable
    Meyle = similar to Febi
Lemforder = OEM Quality but pricey
Meyle HD = Also quality, but also not cheap.
You can quite often buy the parts audi buys an resells for a fraction of the cost.

Took ages to find one that was not rusty, mega miles or shagged.

Just be aware a front arm kit is £400, rear bush kit similar, £70 for alignment adjustment bolts, so a squeaky bush can get expensive real fast. Dont get ebay arm kits unless you want to replace them in a couple of months.

What engine are you looking at?
Reading this post, I could be persuaded to suggest an A4 over an 80, I suppose it depends on your mechanical ability etc., but right now the car should only be a tool to be used for a purpose, not the main event, and so I still stand over the rest of my post.

        Superb Andy.... cheers!

Yes you can.... but the trick is finding out who the original supplier was.Not always easy for me anyway.

Just now been looking at Octavia MK1 with 1.8T or 1.9TDi. Elegance comes with all the extras. Maybe I should just think about getting a car for 2-3 years, maybe even more till I finish Uni, and get a job.

I am not a fan of a diesel, even if it costs less to run. I think 1.8T Octavia is the better choice, and could even get a 4x4

Agreed, but did you get to drive a chipped diesel for a week, good length of time, rather than just up and down the road ?

                Better than you realise.

I know they are fun to drive, but they are more expensive to fix if they break.

Back to original question: what mine is worth? I am thinking £2500-3000?

1.8T is quite economical actually, dad owns one. You can get a really nice examples for not a lot of money. Just exploring all the options.

I think the only way you will find out is put on ebay and see what happens with a £2k reserve. There was a realy really nice one an S4 that fetched stupid money but is yours as good as his was?? And the deal did go through as i emailed the seller.

They are supposed to be quite economical when you look at the official fuel figures but i know someone who has a 1.8 turbo A4 B5 and he says its not good on fuel around town at all and only reasonable on a long run holding back.

I guess with I'll just have to cook up ebay ad and see where it goes Then will look into what car I would be getting, definitely VAG though. Probably either 1.8T or 1.9TDi.

My dad is getting around 28mpg around town, and over 40mpg on motorway drives.

Those sort of mpg figures isn't bad at all and certainly a lot better than the S4

                              Replacement has to be Vag!

Didn't want to start a new thread. But been looking for a replacement in case mine sells. All diesels are high milage and cost a lot. It's possible to get a decent, low-ish mile petrol for much cheaper. So, my question, would you rather drive Tdi or LPG converted petrol? To buy and convert a low mile petrol would be the same as buy a high mile TDI.
