    It's a sad day

It's a sad sad day.... I've just sorted my avant.... First time in 6 (?) years of ownership I have not had access To use him (yes it's a him based in his number plate).

Mind you it's not all bad news as the reason behind it is the tax was due and I've decided to use this to my advantage and take the rear subframe off for all new poly bushes, some new diff seals, some paint underneath all of the back items and a general spruce up at the back.

Let's hope it takes me no longer than March for this work!

Jobs this afternoon so far have included slacken off all sub frame bolts, rear strut bolts, hand brake cables out, hubs loosened etc etc. all I need to do is undo the prop shaft at the rear and undo the brake lines and remove the abs sensors and then it can come down... I think! Fingers crossed. I will probably start asking lots of very silly questions soon...

    Watch this space!

So today I finished the refurb of the rear of the car. I took it for a spin round the block earlier and I can say I have missed her. Just need to get the 4 wheel alignment done and tax it which might be tomorrow if I can.

The jobs done include painting of the underneath of the car and petrol straps. Painting all of the rear end items too.

New subframe bushes, track rods etc, all new bushes everywhere, power flex where possible. New diff seals both sides and all new cv boots with all cv joints cleaned out.

All new brake lines, flexi sand hard lines etc.... Pads and discs... Refurbed calipers... New abs sensors...

Absolutely everything is painted... If you can see it, it's painted and looking and feeling new thank good.

It's been a mission, cost a fortune and certainly tested me. Thank God for my brothers help.... Apart from his wife had a kid 2 weeks ago so the last few weeks have involved phone help lol.

So glad I can go back to using the car at last!

Just wanted to share my joy...

Well I didn't change the shocks on mine as I want to do upgrades to the whole car at some point to these but I think all in its come to around £1k ish with me and my brother doing the work. I also managed to get parts at a discounted rate through some friends who work in motor factors for bits they could get. And my brother supplied and made all the hard brake lines himself. And I already had some parts stashed. I think you will be looking at closer to £1.5k all in otherwise...

Oh and add garage rates if you aren't doing it yourself buddy. Or machine shop rates for removing and fitting bushes. I did all those myself too

Well done! And in the process "He" has become a "She"! I guess it has to be if you're that intimate with her underparts..
