urq seller fraud going down in NZ

    http://www.vask.org.nz/index.php/topic,40291.0.html

The very few urq's sold in NZ were 100% uk-spec cars

WR-engined examples had a mechanical odometer with read-out in miles until the orange dash and digital odometer came along in 1988 with the MB engine

This fraud in NZ is trying to convince buyers who appear to be bidding huge money (by local standards) for his car that one does not believe the odometer and that it really means kms

There's a lot of difference in value and provenance between a collectible that has travelled 86,000 miles and one misrepresented *** having travelled just 86,000km!

    Buyer beware!

(note the large number of conveniently unanswered questions on his auction listing)

Mine is an 84 UK car with a green digi dash. You can switch the dash from KPH to MPH (and litres to gallons) by pushing and holding a switch but of course the odometer, being mechanical, doesn't change. I would say the dash is from an 85 car as it has the handbrake warning signal in it, mine has the bulb in the panel by the drivers right knee.
