    Standard spring lowering

Hi guys. I'd like my S4 to sit slightly lower, but I can't find any lowering spring kits that are below 30mm drop.

K Simmonds mentioned in his build thread I think, that there are companies that can compress standard springs? Google won't bring anything up

A little spring history for you:

The UrS4s either came with the 1BA non-sport suspension or the 1BE sport suspension. The 1BE sport suspension sat the car down by about 19 mm relative to the 1BA suspension. I would call this "slightly".

The Eibach Pro-sport spring kits of the day (NLA BTW) sat the car down about 25 mm relative to the 1BA suspension. At that point, you need to slot the upper strut mounting plates to get the front camber back into spec.

Various H&R suspension kits sat the car down by around 30 mm. This required significant effort to get the front camber back into spec. Merely slotting the strut mounts was not enough. This required the 2Bennett type strut mounts or redrilling of the OE mounting plates aka "Igor mod".

H&R are one of the only companies that I knew that are still making C4 spring kits.

You go too low and you start to hate speed bumps with a passion.

    The 29800 kit works well.

I currently have springs (at the front) with 2(?) violet dots? I don't mind the current height, just want the front to sit lower than the rear. Something like this

That is very likely "too" low in the front to be practical (and it would need the extra camber adjustment efforts at the strut top).

OE UrS4 springs were a function of the engine, transmission and A/C (or no A/C).

Coil springs will modify existing springs, or make you custom springs for a reasonable sum (£175+vat for 1 set of custom springs for an S2 in 2011)

You might want to consider uprated shocks as well, lower stiffer springs will often blow tired old shocks in short order.

I will give them a shout and see what they say. Don't need rear springs, just front ones with about 10mm extra drop and it'll sit perfectly.

3mm wouldn't be noticeable would it?

                Hi mate,

Just stumbled across your thread and I might be able to help. I can get Cobra springs (new) which come with lifetime guarantee. They do a set specifically for your car (93 S4 Avant) which lowers 30mm front and rear. However Cobra offer a service where they can either reduce or increase the height of the springs front and/or rear. They just charge a small amount per corner for this.

This might be an option for you?

I personal use Cobra springs on my cabrio and in my opinion they are great.

Let me know if this appeals to you?

                Thanks
