Maybe you guys should all contact audi tradition and demand to speak with the proper management regarding the production/costs/quality of new parts. Maybe this is how we should start things,.with lots of complaints.

There is nobody in that shop you can ask info about the parts to.
I asked which was the correct motorblock for my chassis number and they clearly answered by mail that they don't know.
I think Audi knows that BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Jaguar's heritage parts is better.
But also knows that in the '80s, all those brands were already top brands for people with money.
In the 80's Audi cars were just good quality cars which looks like Volkswagens in the same ages.
The only car of those years that SOME people recognize is the Urquattro. They even don't know what a Sportquattro is. The 100 C3, for example, is a good car, but looks like a Ford Sierra of the same age.
Who buys an Audi 80/90 B2 B3 now? Nostalgic moneyless people. Or crazy guys with a lot of passion.
I think that Audi thinks that is better for their potential customers to FORGET what Audi was in the '80s.
And just because they knew that a reasonable amount of people in last decades likes collecting UrAudis they had the idea that it was a good chance to sell New Old Stock parts that was unsoldable in other way.
I will not be surprised if, in a couple of years, after they realuzed they sold out the parts on which they earned most of what they wanted to gain, they close the Audi Tradition website and scrap all the cheapest spare parts that nobody wants.
An Audi dealer owner said to me that at Audi meetings the managers says them that "the Audi customer can spend money and so he has to do so". Like a Porsche customer.
So, I think I'm going to spend my money elsewhere.

Interesting comments, (even though pretty annoying).

        Well verbalised.

The name of the new forum we all be migrating to might be "E30/964-ex-S2forum.com"

Well, I bought my type 85 cars because I grew up with/in them and I love driving these old quattro's. The lack of parts availability won't make me drive a BMW FFS! Just because I don't like driving a BMW, not even when every parts on it is new OEM

That does not mean I think Audi Tradition are doing a good job or having good prices. So far I haven't ordered anything personally on AT and after reading all the bad comments I hope I never need to order anything either.

The trouble is the cost is a lot. That's why Audi don't want to. But they also don't want to sell us 20 year old parts at 1995 prices. The price is at least 2x what it was then. So they make massive margin. It's good business selling off old stock at full price. They are not interested in preserving their heritage like Porsche or Jaguar or BMW or Mercedes. It's not impossible, if they cared they could do it. They dont care. This is the problem.

I find it funny that quite a few parts for the RS2 are NLA.
Yet there's one pictured on Audi traditions homepage...knobheads.

                    Interesting comments.

I don't want to sound like a pompous fella but I was talking about this (and other issues) with Thomas Frank Director of Audi Tradition last sunday evening in Jesolo Italy during the celebration of the 60th of the (NSU) Union Lido Camping.

The Audi Tradition Shop it's born mainly because the Clubs all around Europe pressed to have somehow some help in sourcing spare parts for their old Audi NSU DKW Horch Wanderer.

Most of the pressure (we could call it battle....) was carried by the NSU people rather then we Audi fellows.
If we're struggling.... the NSU guys are really down to luck and full cooperation troughout Europe from the clubs members to help each other.

I concour as stated by more then one in this thread that we need to get united to carry out this needs.
The service/website and the shop it's for sure lacking in many sides but we got to understand that before the clubs started to scream there was nothing...
As long that you write emails hundreds of them you will come to more or less nothing....
The person to talk to is within reach for the officials Clubs, trust me, it's a matter to get the issue in the timetable of the next official meeting between: Heads of Audi Club International of each Country/Importers/ Audi Tradition (next one it's due 30th 31st of october in Ingolstadt) with companies like Audi you don't go anywhere if you don't make your way trough the correct channels, and everyone that is working for companies of this size I believe can confirm my words.
It's an hard task guys irritating/frustrating/sometime helpless....

The big problem in these things it's the time.... action/reaction of this companies that can easily been measured in years, when we would love to source the parts within days....

On my side I've done this in regards of the S2Forum.
Got to know with Dave (S2driveruk) and started to talk about the Clubs and what's involved with the Audi Club International structure.
Got Dave to meet with the guy in charge of relations between Clubs and Audi Tradition in LeMans last year.
Will get in few days him and myself to meet the new guy (is the third in my Club history) that his taking over the Clubs relations.... You see the thing about time and frustration? (three different people within 5 years)
Got Dave to join a FB group of people heads of Clubs and Audi Forums where we could (i hope) put down a strategy for the meeting.
In Le Mans I will propose to the new guy to invite Dave at the official meeting with Audi Tradition in Ingolstadt in october as an Ambassador for the development of Audi Club International UK which right now afaik does'nt exist.

I'm doing this because I realized that, yes, the more we're the better but at the same time we need to be organized and to be officially entitled to speak for this and other issues, other wise again i reckon we'll get nowhere near any result.

I don't know if this it's going to work eventually but at least I will not regret that I did'nt do it in the proper way.
I don't want any applause form anybody but please understand that the work we people from the officials clubs are doing it's sometime very demanding, we don't get paied for this we do it just for our passion and because this passion bring us together quite often with very special persons at least for me.

By the way talking about this....

To meet Dave,Paul/S2Central,Tom/Saltinot, Ciaran/Ciaranthemurph was something unique and i'm glad i have an old Audi that, ok, it's lacking spare parts but it got me to meet fantastic friends.

                    Stefano

                    P.S.
Members of official Audi Clubs have a discount on Tradition Shop circa 10%
                    P.P.S.
I'm sourcing together with other friends a list of italian companies that were OEM suppliers at the time of our Audis to give to Audi Tradition....
You'll be surprise how many parts were made in italy, i.e. dashboards tail lights high pressure pipes chromed rings and badges and many others

                      Stefano,

This sounds like an excellent idea. I definitely appreciate the effort that you guys are making. I would like to help, but I am not sure how.
