    Come on guys..... I can't believe anyone is surprised at the cost of Audi servicing !. You only have to look at the "Gin Palaces" they operate from. The free (?) posh coffee. The fact most if not all of them do not have visible parts department so you have to ask some girl at reception who has the entire contents of Boots cosmetics counter on her face. The rows of desks with computer systems on them that look like you could launch an ICBM from them. You cannot expect them to do anything for you that will cost less than a 100 quid consequently we are discouraged with exorbitant costs and NLA parts I know not all of us a not handy with the spanners but there are plenty of very good places out there. If you want to go to the franchise dealers then you deserve what you get.
    Harsh but true

        Agreed.

        Not to be a told you so ! :roll eyes: but always looked to 'warn' others, more particularly people who hadn't bought but might get caught up in the 'excitement' of this forum or new owners that if they can't do the work on the car themselves they should not get involved with an S car.

        The two exceptions - they are loaded, or they have a mate who is mate.

        The annoying thing is that even if you could afford main dealer prices, it still won't always be done as well as the mechanically proficient owner would do.

        Plus by doing yourself, apart from the money saving and the satisfaction, you also tend to do more than one job, 'as I'm in there I might as well do x as also'.

        Also you get to know more accurately what the condition of the car it, and what needs doing in a preventative way.

        Old cars by their very nature do not fit with in dealer rates and dealer ability.

            "Like a wounded Rhino", avoid at all costs!
            Was servicing out "new" 8 year old A4 yesterday;
            Does anyone (by which I mean Garages)ever lubricate anything except the engine?
            Why take out 8 screws to remove something and only replace 4 when you build it back up? and so on and so on! Sady "Service" no longer seems to mean "check anything", I can't blame Audi for this one but from experience they are no better than anyone else.
