Heading to Germany

Well heading to Germany tomorrow 1st pit stop will be Dover then ferry Monday morning and then heading down to Trier. Going for a fortnight biggest problem was deciding which car to take lol!! Took the mighty S2 last year so I decided a little more comfort this year so taking the big A6

Staying around Trier and Cochem for a week and of course the usual day at The Ring!! Then heading down towards the Black Forest

We just got back from Germany Tony, it was very warm 23-28c. Planned for Dover too but went from near you, Newcastle to Amsterdam. Was pretty expensive but we had the towing thing on back of car which you can sleep in and stuff...not going to mention the word in here....
Found that with the strikes in France which I didnt know about till listening to the radio, I was over the moon with our decision. Might be in your best interests to re-think your route mate as there will still be delays as thousands of trucks parked up on M20.

Anyway no matter which route you choose you will have a great time I'm sure of it, just wish we had longer over there....

I love Germany/Austria Anthony, been twice so i know you will have a great time.If you get the chance go the Saltzburg, just outside,you go up the mountain in a special bus with special brakes,and visit the Eagles Nest.Seriously well worth the trip and when you've finished tour Salzburg and the Sound of Music sights.You can even drop down on one knee and propose again in the original Gazebo used in the film.Your Mrs might like that. On the German side of the Danube on the German Austrian boarder is the historic town of Passau.Well worth a visit.







It's a loooooooonnnngggggg waaaaaaaaay dooooowwwwwnnn. It's a must see if not this time another time.

Heading to Germany

Watch out for speed traps on the Black Forest Highway, just north of the big restaurant at the top when I was there, the really fast section to the south was clear, drive a couple of the side roads too, they're brilliant and some super views. [emoji41]

cheers fellas and the advice! I am a little concerned about the Dover crossing?? My ferry is all booked and hotel in Dover is as well. I thought the problems were mostly on the french side didn't realise problems on this side??

Apparently all cleared up now this side.

Enjoy your trip , were leaving on the 19 July on the Hull Rotterdam ferry, heading to Zell (near Cochem ) going to watch the Eifel rallye , then heading to rudesheim for a few days , we liked it last time we went in 2012 , Germany has lots of lovely places to see & visit & underrated imho, might go to trier when near (Zell ) oh & we have one of them metal things that you can sleep in too

you can do the channel tunnel .. takes 35mins to cross.
Im in Germany now and took the S2.

On the autobahns I had the biggest smile ever for ages!!
Hit 157mph... but other cars getting in the way and had to abort..

Back home after a stunning holiday 2nd year in a row that we have had an unbelieveable time temps were between 30-38c every day. Had a great time around Trier and the Mosel to Cochem and then to Titisee and Lake Konstance in the Black Forest and also Triberg and Feldberg and St Bassien and of course last night spent at the Ring!! Did some serious damage pushing my A6 to hard cracked the front alloy and ****ed the front tyre managed to get home on it though as spare was also ****ed.So getting them repaired this week and buying another new tyre. Never mind will get it sorted not what i need with a wedding 6 weeks away lol!! I will get some pics up soon
