Mods or not most company's disregard cat d c markers, in terms of accident etc they will only pay out market value glaciers guide etc anyway. 10k to insure there's plenty of insurance companies and brokers that will get you insurance!

      insurance

i had the same prob insuring 1 of my swb quatts it was heavily modified & most insure,rs didnt want to know also the cat c doesnt help, the only other prob is u pay all that insurance premium then if god forbid it got damaged/stolen etc u would get min of 45% less of market value because it has already bn paid out before thats when the cat system realy kicks in u realy get kicked in the bollx

Cheers for that. It does make you think a bit more about Cat C and D vehicles. Less of an issue for an everyday car maybe but with most of us being seduced by power and speed, it makes sense there is a higher chance of smashing it up. I guess that might be offset slightly by the money you could make back breaking it but that would be a PITA as well.

Needs thinking about a bit more. Maybe I need to go back to my original thought of buying a standard spec rapid car. I do like the 20vt though. A lottery win would sort it out.

You need to get an agreed value policy to avoid price issues on a claim in the future

yes but the agreed valuation will not kick in if the car has been a total loss unless you tell them up front & then they wount agree to value it as much so in theory u cant win

You had a cat C S2 which had agreed value and paid out what you wanted when it was a total loss? Without arguments or issues? Was it also a modified car with everything declared?

Who was the company??? They might get tons of new customers - me included!

I'm just going to digress with my thoughts/experience....
If all above board, and honesty is applied, then Insurance can't dispute market value....especially when cars can be compared, and with online history of sales.

Agreed value should be along the same vein - subject to wrangling before policy inception, value agreed between 2 parties then shouldn't be disputed come payout time.

If its a CAT D/C total loss, then imo, one would not have paid full price for the car being privy to the CAT status, therefore a lesser, yet equal amount (if agreed value) should/could be claimed come loss agin?

Where this all falls down is that almost all insurance companies are useless... no point swearing, because of the filter. Indeed you only find out how good an insurer is com claim time.

My latest back up to this is getting smacked in the rear in October, and I'm still not settled... I do however have a load parasites feeding off my " non fault " Claim...
Legalised scum, I tell thee. Ive even been to an insurance approved repairer, who has assessed the damage twice, but a month apart - recorded the same damage, yet come up with 2 different figures with almost £1k difference.

Getting slightly back on topic... A genuine RS2 with a naturally high value, cost less to insure than my full spec RS2 conversion....by double. And with a loss

                      As you were......

so what's the point of agreed value then, think I'll have to get additional securities in writing in case of a claim

When I used to insure my Coupe this way, it would always come back with quite a few. I cannot recall exactly but I think the last year I insured the S2, it was around 300quid. I will try some of the specialists and see what they say. Something just seems amiss to me. The only thing that has changed is that the vehicle is a Cat C. Everything else is basically the same (apart from having another years NCD)

Will try Flux and the others when I get some time but it is always a faff going through it all manually. Needs must though. There is a serious BHP deficit in my life that needs seriously addressing.

I have used AF for years and they have always been competitive and paid out full market value when I had a total loss many years ago....

Steve. You can only speak as you find.
I am currently going through a non fault claim, and they(AF) are worse than useless.... I'm going to have to go to ombudsman . Spoken to countless people, and never get anywhere, whether it's from AF, the solicitors and accident management company that they put forward.
I can feel my pulse racing and blood pressure rising anytime I speak to someone.
