    Recommendations? ??

Hi guys in 2 minds here ...shortly ill be running 400 bhp and i have my engine being built buy a good friend michael (mac2226) amd was wondering what the best thing to do woth my clutch was in reguards to flywheel ... i have a lightened single mass flywheel that can go on with pressure plate and paddle clutch OR do i stay double mass stock flywheel woth pressure plate and paddle clutch for more torque?? Ill be using it for street mainly so what do you guys think is best ... light flywheel or not?
    Any help would be helpful
    Cheers guys
    J

for 400 hp i woud choose a single mass flywheel
dual mass is expensive and can go broke
i think the only problem that a lightened single mass flywheel can give is a litte rougher idle
    audi coupe quattro b2 2.2 20vt project (573hp-626nm)
    TWINCHARGED power,zero lag

Will i need to balance the flywheel to the crank or anything like that? Also what is the benefits of using my lightened flywheel? What do i have to do to fit it as i know you have to take adaptor plate out and shorten bolts???? So iv been told anyways

a lightened single mass flywheel gives normaly a faster rpm respons
i use a 3b flywheel with sachs clutch and is a straight fit with 01e gearbox
it's always better when everything is balanced but if you put a light flywheel on te engine without balance I think it can not do much harm
"take adaptor plate out and shorten bolts" what do you mean with this?

depends on how hard you drive it and the turbo.

I ran a stock clutch and dm fw for a good while on my s2 but never launched hard or cogged it proper. up to 2 bar boost. big older turbo don't come in so early though. when I took the cluch and wheel off still in good condition and flywheel no movement or rattle.

ive fitted a smfw lightened a bit and had the aby timing "lump" replicated as per a diagram on here. and an sre kit now. not tested it yet though. ive not had mine all balanced.

to fit it you need a 3b clutch. remove the spacer and use shorter bolts. bolts for a 5 speed. or a couple o washers if need be.

I have a k24 hybrid ( bigger internals) pulls great would it be best to use this light flywheel take adaptor plate out etc you think? I just dont want to loose much torque hence why im asking whats best thing to do ... launching will be a thing ill do time to time

I think the 24 is ok on dmfw. you can always collect the bits together for when it starts to go, it wont hack many big launches though imo.

I presume its rs2 spec basically so see how it goes. rs2 makes more torque lower down than me. its low end torque that kills stuff in general.

so not far from rs2. the stock cams make more low down than the 7a for instance. itll be a zippy motor for sure. don't forget the fuel pump. my aby pump maxed out at 325hp at 5krpm going lean after that. 044 in tank is the way imo. 3b basket and strainer, rs2 coupling at fuel line.

I think itll be ok on the stock fw for now especially as you have an uprated clutch.

I wouldn't pull it apart for the sake of it anyway.

If you go single mass with 6 speed you will get a rattling/buzzing in the cabin pulling away at low revs, makes it sound like the gearbox is broken. The 6 speed is straighter cut than the earlier gearboxes and the DM flywheel was developed to kill this noise. It's not a problem if you don't mind the rattle, I've got used to it now but hated it at first and tend to try and drive around it, use more revs, change down to lower gear etc..

I have bosch 044 and 7a fuel basket mate was just saying engine parts done ... fuel pumps in with 3 bar map sensor it has an rs2 ecu i think with a chip in but obviously over fuels as the chip map is ment for 360 injectors not my 440 but its going for a proper mapping later when engines back in

I didn't hear anything in mine? ive heard about this before. made no noise but the car aint quiet anyway so maybe that's the difference.

I got a stock crank. scat rods and machined pistons. rods and pistons weight matched.

What do you recommend then .... dm flywheel with paddle clutch and better pressure plate? Be good for 4/420 bhp? Forgot to mention rs2 em ported and polished^^^

                              all sounds good

if engines out you could do the cluch and flywheel. its extra cost for the work though. and parts.

for ref impulse in Rochdale did my flywheel. lighened balanced and replica timing weight. works with vems so must be right. no pics as per usual for me
