    Brakes without ABS

My car has had the original brake system removed along with the ABS.
I want to reinstate the original brake system but without the ABS.
I have bought a new master brake cylinder and servo and then realized that it was linked to the ABS.
Has anyone took out the ABS and put something else in to replace it.

Can you please explain a little more about the problem?

I removed the abs from my car with no problems, all the components will function perfectly well on their own.

The master cylinder has 2 ports for the brakes and 2 ports for the hydraulic servo assistance.

    Cheers Baz

You need to plumb the L & R front brakes from the front ports on the master cylinder, then plumb the rear circuit off a rear port of the master cylinder. You will need to put a proportioning valve in the rear circuit so you can properly seat up the rear line pressure rate.

Is it important to use the front most port for the front brakes? Often wondered this.

I always thought you used the ports closest to the bulkhead for the fronts as the fluid will be pushed from there 1st?

Sorry, we don't have the original steering rack in place either, I think this along with the accumulator would normally generate the hydraulic pressure to run the servo?

The pressure is created by the twin vane power steering pump. One side does the pressure to the rack, the other pressure to the brake servo. All the bomb does is store some pressure (ie, accumulate) for the brakes to work for a short while when the engine is not running.

What power steering pump are you using?

The info below has come from S2 central and my mechanic, any advice would be welcome.

"The brakes receive power assistance from an ingenious hydraulic servo device which is pressurised by the hydraulic pump for the power steering. The reason for this is twofold. Primarily that it is a more compact package (squeezed between the brake pedal and master cylinder) than a traditional vacuum servo. Secondly, the complications of ensuring vacuum is available on a car which spends a good deal of time creating boost in the inlet manifold are equally cumbersome. The S2 is not unique in its use of a hydraulic servo as it was used on the URs and the 7A engined 20V CQ to name some other applications. Click here for more info on the hydraulic servo system and the brake pressure accumulator which is it's most infamous component. "

Which basically means without the cars standard steering rack and hydraulic system we can't power the servo, which is obviously very much different to just about every other system on the road. I'm assuming that's why the Audi power steering pump/hydraulics have been replaced with an electric pump.

If you have an electric PAS pump then you won't have a brake bomb or a hydro servo. The electric PAS pump just provides hydraulic fluid flow as demanded from the rack.
You will more than likely have a vacuum brake servo, unless you have an aftermarket pedal box & other associated gubbins.

Looking at removing my ABS system too.
Is it a case of the following:
                        Drain system
                        Disconnect ABS unit
Connect brake lines to master cylinder? Fronts to front connections of cylinder and rear to rear connection (with proportioning valve)
Do you leave all ofther components alone?

I will trace all the wiring and remove the ECU too.
