As I already said I would expect £4k with MOT, you have to remember I was actually at the MOT centre with the car and had a detailed conversation with the guy who was doing it and asked about all these problem, he told me they where all minor but wanted to let me know so I can get them sorted in due course. Since I won't be letting it go for £500 as people keep telling me its worth looks like I will spend a few £££ on it and bring it back to its former glory myself and drive it round for the summer. I would also like to remind everyone here the car went off the road as it has done every year over winter not because of any problem but because I don't drive it in the rain it has been garaged for over 20 of its 28 years and other than the problems listed is immaculate. The images from 4 years ago where take after a valet and the car drove less than 2 mile back to its resting place in the garage so I would say they are pretty damn accurate, don't get me wrong it is currently a bit dusty as would any car thats been in a garage for 4 years but that doesn't change the fact that with a quick wash it will come up looking like new once again.
What's she worth

It's all about supply and demand. The same reason a half decent b2 GT is worth £1,000 and a basket case b2 UR Quattro is worth £10,000.As I already said I would expect £4k with MOT, you have to remember I was actually at the MOT centre with the car and had a detailed conversation with the guy who was doing it and asked about all these problem, he told me they where all minor but wanted to let me know so I can get them sorted in due course. As others have said, there's very little true demand for a front wheel drive audi 80. Having one in great condition will help it sell for sure and may add a couple/few hundred to the value, but it'll never be an S2 or even a coupe quattro. That's just how it is.
If your car was an S2 in that condition you could pick it up with a crane, raise it 30 feet in the air, drop it on it's roof and it'd still be worth 5 times more than a FWD 80 Coupe.
It's a decent car for sure and i wouldn't knock it, but it's not high value wise. There are many many similar comparisons amongst other makes/models.Comment

I get what your saying and maybe I overestimate the true value but I wouldn't want a 2.2 quattro (unless it was an s2 of course) all this would do is slow it down and it's not like its a fast car as it is. I think it has a nostalgic value being a late 80's car with the 5 pot engine, and maybe the fact there where people lining up to buy it when I originally purchased it for a whole lot more than £500 or even a grand. The mechanic who did the MOT offered me over what I originally paid for it when he did my last MOT even with the advisories. It's all about supply and demand. I could rattle off a dozen similar examples of standard/top models "unfairly" rated against each other. Standard Golf/R32 etc. Standard Corrado/G60. VW Splitscreen/VW Bay Window. Porsche 911 SC/Porsche 911 Supersport/930.I get what your saying and maybe I overestimate the true value but I wouldn't want a 2.2 quattro (unless it was an s2 of course) all this would do is slow it down and it's not like its a fast car as it is. Sometimes it doesn't seem fair that a "mint" standard model is worth 1/10th of the top dog in that range but that's just how it is and has been for a very long time.
I bought my first FWD Audi 80 for £12,000 and it gradually devalued itself every year till it was almost given away.
It's only in the last couple of years that prices have started to climb up. Unfortunately there's probably two types of punters, one who'll spend many thousands on a highly desirable model and the other who'll happily spend a grand or so for a bit of standard 90's retro. There doesn't seem to be much demand in between.
With a test it could feasibly fetch a bit more, say £1,500 but i wouldn't spend the money till you've got it. There's lots of them for sale sub £1,000 and that's the price those punters will see as a bench mark.
Looking at the pics, if it'd left the factory with a red S2 badge it could easily be advertised for £15,000.Comment

So other than all the corrosion underneath and the dodgy seat and all the other problems....its immaculate!!! LOL, Are you for real?
The word Immaculate seems to have so many different interpretations.Comment

I've often thought a 'what's it worth' thread would be useful for members who were looking to sell or buy an S2. The consensus on this thread is quite close, so perhaps we should start a valuation thread for our motors? It might be useful to understand current real world values. Christ, it looks nice, for sure, but you're looking at it with very, very owner-tinted glasses.
Heck, just about every car I've owned I've valued more than what I could get selling it, so I understand. I'm dealing with insurance just now for my car which has been written off and there's a 50% difference in value between our opinions, lol.
You clearly love it, so maybe best to get it on the road and hang onto it, otherwise you may feel insulted by what you get offered. Corrosion isn't self healing and with 4 years laid up that might not be a cheap thing to do.Comment
