Check the service and running costs on the RS4 as i've been told they like to eat brakes!

I agree, It's not just owning the car ....... it's the rest of the costs. Get yourself a nice RS2 like JUBJUB has got and put the rest of the money in the RS2 fund/mods. You'll love it, more raw than the RS4.

Me too, but you'll need about 25k. That's a lot of money

            Gorgeous looking car the Rs4.
Can be expensive to run, turbos do seem to give up the ghost, and as pointed out, brakes are not cheap. A warranty is virtualy a must for peace of mind if the turbos go, as it AFAIK, its a ~£3-4kjob for stock replacement.

Me, well I have a gut feeling tha the prices of themwill be getting cheaper
One was for sale on the AT and ebay a couple of weeks ago - noggy blue with 105 k miles, went for somwhere around the £18.5k mark AFAIK. Reckon you will soon start seeing a few more with higher miles/ out of Audi warranty/ standard spec for the same

A member over on Rs246 has recently sold his Rs4 and has just got an RS2. He prefers the RS2 by all acounts..........

I do own a twin turbo S4 (ok not an RS4) and I prefer it to the RS2 on all accounts, ok it doesn't have the lag then the surge like the RS2 but it is so much more refined though, and more comfortable at high speed cruising... gas mileage is terrible and turbos do go that is true...

If I had the money though, I'd have an RS2 AND an RS4, they are both great cars, just very different!!!!!!! The legendary 5 pot 20v turbo on the one hand and that sweet sounding V6 twin turbo on the other hand... lag vs no lag, raw vs smooth power delivery...

They are different cars, you have to be aware of the ups and downs of each one of them and drive each of them before you decide IMHO...

Now thats the other thing...... There is little between a "slightly" modded S4 and a stock RS4, IMHO, Not to justify more than double the price anyway, other than the more aggresive body. My S4 tt was a very good car Just felt the pull to go back to another RS2.

Thanks for your response guys I think it will probably all come down to money ,given the price of halfords push bikes ,however I have to say that the rs2 seems a better proposition with that 20v and all its history but how do I get to drive one or even find one in negaro blue

And bear in mind that my mate bought an RS4 just recently, and 8 days later it was stolen never to be seen again...

The RS4 is an awesome car in all respects though, if you can afford it and the running costs it would be my option, although I've always dreamed of an RS2...

Get a mint RS2, run around in that for a couple of years, while the last of the depreciation nibbles away at the price of (good) urRS4s, THEN take some good test drives. If you like the experience, sell the the RS2 for what you originally paid (or more), run around in the urRS4 for a couple of years, THEN have a look at the 2005 model RS4s and Bob's your Dad's brother.

If your ever over the Midlands way, I'll let you take a ride in our RS2.

You'll never want another car after that though!

go for a mint RS2 not a lot people know what they are and it's the perfect sleeper

RS4 very nice but very nickable and not quite put together as lovingly as the RS2

also you wont lose, if any money with a RS2
