My mate has an RS4 and its the same system as an A4, its a kind of double wishbone system where as our cars are bottom wishbone and a strut with a bearing at the top into the body work (I think this is called a Macpherson strut).Originally posted by BillmanBut in other thread someone used the RS4 Bilstein on the RS2. So they must have the same suspension design. If it handles like a gokart or not is an other issue (settings etc)
The clever thing about the A4 system is that the top wishbone is actually 2 arms with separate ball joints onto the top of the king pin, so as you turn a corner the geometry can be different for the inside and outside wheel. The RS4 steers really spookily as if the camber is going with the turn, first time I drove it I remember thinking it steers like a motorbike, like its leaning into the turn. I got back into my S2 with all the suspension mods and it felt like a boat
(and I think my car is set up quite well.)

Correct. The S2 Coupe uses all round struts. The Avant and Saloon use strut fronts and trailing arm rear. The same trailng arm rear as the B5 A4/S4/RS4 and Type 44 (with minor revisions through the years). Nevertheless, they all feel a bit remote and synthetic compared to a well sorted Ur quattro.Comment
