    The TT Thread (Castle Combe)!

Well, we talked about it, here it is.

If you weren't at Castle Combe today, you won't know what this is all about, but if you were then, it was a very unfortunate day for a TT owner and a fairly bad day for Audi too.

The long and short of it is. Audi were hosting a very short auto test with some brand new S4's and anyone was allowed to enter to try and post the fastest time. The entry regulations were simply that you had to be over 21 and sign a disclaimer. Anyway it transpired that a lad we had been chatting to with an S2 had a couple of mates with him and that one of them had been out for a go and was only 16! This then encouraged the other young lad to have a go too. Only this time instead of rolling into the start area, for some inexplicable reason he floored the car on full lock and wiped out the drivers side of a nearby mint TT with the front bumper of the S4. If this wasn't bad enough, the person that shall remain nameless (well I don't actually know is name!) just tried to saunter away. As one of the stewards approached him, he did a Carl Lewis impression and left the scene on foot. Only to be hotly pursued be a friend of an S2 Forum member and what I suspect were TT owners club members, out of Castle Combe and towards the nearest village.

Ten minutes later the lad reappeared having been run down by said friend of S2 Member, and returned to the Audi marquee to sort things out. It turned out he was 16 too, and had not driven before...

All in all a very bad day for the TT owner who now requires a new front bumper, drivers door, sill panel, rear three quarter and two alloys.

A shame really as this did slightly mare what was a great day blessed with chilly but dry weather.

See other thread for full details.

    Cheers,

    Steve

certainly gonna be some Audi employees in trouble now i should think for not making the proper checks!

He did make a total mess of that TT and it did look good as TT's go, not to mention the damage to the S4.... Lucky he didnt plough in to the row of UR's that were opposite the TT!

I spoke to one of the Audi reps about what would have happened if one of the ur's was hit, especially with many panels and parts being no longer available?
He didn't have an answer but knows of the problems owners with older Audi's are facing as they are trying to restore a left hooker ur in Milton Keynes.
I suggested he got together with other dealerships and made a protest to Germany and maybe then something could be done? I also spoke to Andy Bowskill from AOC. He was in a meeting today regarding formation of the International Audi Club and forcing Audi's hand to make older parts available was due for discussion.
Maybe we could all help by writing to Germany too?
          Cheers.

I think it was damn lucky there wasn't anyone standing in his way. It wouldn't have been a pretty sight if he hit a person rather than the TT. When you look at the small kids wondering about with their parents, it makes you wonder what was going on!

Indeed, could have so easy had an innocent bystander pinned between the S4 and the TT....that would have been very nasty.

Speaking of which, here are the pics of the offending S4....

And the TT that it hit....

Bet the owner's gutted, although I'd guess that Audi will be footing the repair bill?

I would guess so. The TT was last seen being loaded on to the same lorry as the S4, so I guess the TT owner got to take one of the other S4's home....not a bad courtesy car eh

Also, an S2 forum member offered his services as a police officer and was told by Audi that they would be footing the bill for all repairs themselves.

not a great advert that this idiot arrived with someone from the forum....

Shame that one mindless t**t ends up redfacing Audi who supported the event (though they should've been more thorough in checking), Autometrix who organised it and the poor guy with the TT who's car looked ******ed.

Here's a suggestion, if you have any 'mates' like this who want to come in future, leave them behind and let true enthusiasts enjoy the day safely without the chance of damaging this forum's reputation.....

Well I wasn't going to post that, but I totally agree. I spoke to the lads quite a bit as they were parked next to me. Now everyone deserves a second chance and all that, but I think this was a prank that went horribly wrong.

FWIW, I don't think there were many (if any) at the event that could corrolate between this sad incident and anyone remotely related to this forum, and its best kept that way.

                          Cheers,

Had a look on the TT forum to see what they said. Seems we aren't being blamed at all which is good (for us, not the guy with the TT)

By the sounds of it he'll have Audi UK over a barrell on Monday.
