Total Audi mag - whats the verdict?

Just read your post Si and i have to say it's difficult to argue with that... Lets face it if Audi Driver/Autometrix were really hostile to the rival mag pitching up absolutely nothing stops you from turning up as a spectator and talking to owners, collecting stock shots of cars and associated material and generally earning favour with the turners, clubs and most importantly the members who are about as hot-a-prospect for a subscription as you're gonna find all in one location on a saturday afternoon.

I really hope this comes off and lets face it I was reading about this on Quattroownersclub forum about 2 years ago and it looks like something may be about to be produced but it does look like they've missed some seriously low hanging fruit!!!!!

I agree with Si (great post ) and David.

I am another one that is not going to stump up for a subscription without even seeing the mag. I was well up for spending my own money and time (including a day off work) to come to the mythical photo shoot, but nothing transpired. I could organise a photo shoot with ten cars off this site in about 15 minutes if I wanted to, its not that hard. There are plenty of guys like me willing (read desperate) to show off their pride and joy in a magazine...

I appreciate it is a little bit of a chicken and egg situation regarding the magazine, but you can't start an airline without a plane and you can't run a restuarant without food. Its the same for everyone.

Anyway, good luck with the magazine, as depite how it may sound we do actually want a decent magazine for enthusiasts.

For goodness sakes guys PLEASE cut me some slack here. I'm doing all I can with zero funds to produce a magazine I want you all to enjoy! This is in no way a scam and if you had even half an idea of the dedication and determination required to pull a project of this size off then you may not have been so harsh on me.
I take all the points you have made and can only apologise for not organising the shoot. I have been passed from pillar to post on getting a decent location but when it's a commercial exercise everyone wants money. Money that I dont have.
Rather than flame me on here, just bloody call me! 07947 481563 and tell me straight and I'll be only too happy to fill you in on whats going on. Its the hardest job in the world to get people interested in an intried project - from subscribers to advertisers, but be in no doubt I will pull this off, there will be a shoot, next year I will be at Combe and you will all be there to thank me for weathering this storm.

Good luck with the mag David. Just looked on your site and it all looks very professional and well laid out. I'm sure once the first issue starts landing on peoples doorsteps you'll have others subscribing from all over the place. I'm just glad someones prepared to stick their neck out and at least try and get a new audi mag going. I cant imagine it's been that easy but fair play anyway for sticking at it.

Point taken, but from our point of view it seems like a few threads on here have promised much and we have not seen any real action at all.

I wish you no ill and of course would love to see the mag in print.

Just let us know when and where you want us and we will be there.

Last i heard was an email on the 4th saying it was going to print and would be with me by the following week........... nearly 3 weeks on and nothing

I have now made several posts criticising this magazine as I was never really conviced after reading the incredibly poor website, when the photo shoot failed to happen and when no one showed at the major Audi events. The website is still a mess, stating that the mag will be released in September, so me thinks they need to employ a webmaster PDQ. I always offered my posts as a challenge and promised to support the magazine should it ever actually appear.

I am told that the mag is now available, so true to my word, I have just signed up for a subscription and offer a full apology to Mint1Oliver and any others either involved directly with the mag, or offended by my critism.

I understand that the mag is receiving good reviews so far, so I will be looking forward to getting my mitts on a copy

I now invite those who were less critical than I to flame away

I dont know mr corfield but quite a few of the guys on the quattro forum have recieved thier copy today and are more than pleased with it.Im just going to subscribe to total audi today and wish it all the luck in the world.I think everyone should just be a bit more patient and not start to make personal comments about the editor.

Excellent news....I am not too proud to eat humble pie (thank god I don't wear a hat ) I actually want to see this damn mag believe it or not, so I had better put my money were my mouth is (well fingers) and sign up.

Audi Mag

Received my copy on Thursday, seems like David Corfield has been a very busy man! Overall impression very favourable. There's a "S2 shoot out" in next month's.

Having stood on the side lines from the beginning and given nothing but support to David for this venture, I find it amazing the amount of doubters that have been so quick to criticise David's business venture. I am sure that those that threw the first stone are totally (no pun) unaware of the cost (both in terms of money and his life) that David has had to go through to get this business off the ground.
The sheer cost of getting the 1st edition to print has been enourmous and largely due to the fact that the advertisers are all on board to pay for space within the magazine.
It will only get to the newstands if people buy it, people can only buy it if it gets to the newstand.
The comments about how can he put an event into the mag that he didn't attend, due you think that Paul Harris of A/D attends every single thing he puts in his mag??? No he has contributors, I am sure that there is someone who attended who would put pen to paper and give an S2 overview.
Just because you cannot see it it does not mean it isn't happening.
