Total Audi mag - whats the verdict?

I think most of what has been said has been mostly out of frustration. We all want to see a magazine where older models are featured where people have spent love and money on their cherished motor. Getting a venture like this up and running is no doubt very difficult but it has been a long time coming with many false dawns.
Now that it has finally arrived, personally it remains to firstly apologise for being one of the doubters and then to congratulate David and wish him and the magazine much success.

Ive bought car mags for about 25yrs now but since everything i need to know
is either on this forum or forums like it i dont bother buying them as much these days.
But i am glad to see another rival mag to AD the BBC2 of motoring mags .I do find the VW\GOLFmags have more interesting articles that dont seem to be sanitised in any way .

This sounds like good news. Especially seeing as they appear to have stopped selling Audi Driver Magazine in my area. I haven't seen a copy at all this year.
I can't wait to see a hard copy of Total Audi.

I dont believe anyone has a copy of this yet to be honest, i have certainly received nothing!

I challenge anyone on here to post pics of the actual magazine! I wont hold my breath tho!

I have my copy of Total Audi - arrived a few weeks ago...
74 glossy pages, seems pretty well written and professionally produced.

Congratulations to David C. for sticking to his guns and taking the flak, I think we all need to appreciate how difficult it is to pull everything together to get something like this off the ground.

I hope the magazine gets all the support it deserves, and that David and his team can keep in touch with us to tailor the mag' to a truly enthusiast audience.

made some enquiries earlier and it was meant to have been sent, so perhaps got lost in the post, bloody postal service is ***** in this country! Thats 2 things sent to me lately that havent arrived and only cos i knew they were coming.

Another is meant to be getting sent to me today

Probably due to that outfit that was contracted to deliver mail for the Royal Mail. Millions of items were ending up in landfill sites, until they were caught recently.

Well, I for one slated this mag from the start, based on the obvious advertising here, followed by the amateurish website that has not been updated since September and does not work (scrolling is broken due to bad margin co ordinates for a start).

Well, in my last post, I apologised fo some of this, since I was told the mag was now out, so as promised I signed up for a years subscripption and received my first copy 2 days later

First impressions are mixed really.....

On the one had it is well written and well presented. David has obviously put a lot of thought into it and on the whole it works well. The fact that some of the articles are obviously quite old might be concidered as showing good planning.

However, one of the things that David tried to sell this forum, was that the mag would be targeted away from newer cars.

I know the Audi magazine market is biased to newer models and that's pants, which is why I'm here doing something about it

I suggested that this would not last since there was no market there for him, so he would either die or be forced to go 'mainstream'. I have to say that this has happened from day 1....the mag is at least 1/2 full of bloomin A series Audi's and TiT's...you know, the ones still being made.

It is a hard thing to do. I for one would not attempt such an enterprise as I cannot see how it can make serious money without going mainstream, but then it has too much competition.

That said, it was a good read, so I will be keeping my subscription and hoping that some of the promises made on this forum materialise. If they do, then it could well be a good magazine for us and one in which the newer car articles are accepted as just more good info on all things Audi.

Conclusion....shakey start but showing promise - will it make it?....we'll have to wait and see.

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum but have been an avid Audi fan and owner for many many years. For around 3 years I’ve been loitering over on RS246.com, I’m lucky to have owned an A3, A4, S4 and I now run around in an RS4.

I just wanted to poke my nose in and say I'm the chap trying to help David along with this magazine, of course we want to make this work, and of course we would like to be able to sit back and take a wage from it (but we aren’t!) like David it’s a lot more then that for me.

I’ve been in publishing along time and have worked on some great titles such as Car & Car Conversions (when it was a good mag!) Rally Sport & IBM Computer Today (didn’t quiet stick with the theme there!), but for the very first time I can say I’m involved with a magazine I am truly proud of. It’s a pure labour of love for me and I know its cost David dearly not just financially but also personally.

Total Audi is a real challenge for me as I am also in full time employment and trying to balance a life whilst working on this magazine. (That’s why I’m up at this hour writing this!). Like David I am so committed to Total Audi, we are busting our guts here to get this right.

We really want to make this magazine work, we like you are enthusiast’s, we wont always get it right, but with your support and guidance I know we can deliver a magazine that you guys will also be proud off.

P.S. Sorry if this has come across as some type of charity case, just wanted to put you in the picture of what its like behind the scene’s here at Total Audi… Thanks for your time.

I for one hope that this magazine works. There has only been one Audi magazine until now, so it gives us more Audis to read about, which is certainly a good thing.

Are new Audi's really that bad? At least it shows the tuners are stilled interested in catering for a market.

New model Audi's are good, if its actually models worth reading about, i prefer to read about or look at cars that i dont come in to day to day, or couldnt just go down the road and try out etc. The new RS4 for instance, i love that car, its awesome, some big boat of an A6 with a 1.9 diesel lump doesnt really interest me, just another company car.

Would be good if some of the older models can get in there tho. It needs to be done well tho, i regularly read Golf and PVW and the quality of alot of the cars now is just naff, some tatty but standard Mk1 Golf, wow! nothing good about that, pics that show the panels dont line up and bits missing etc.
