    whats wrong with drifting?

it would seem the majority of people on here do not like the drifting concept,

    i ask one queston.

    Why?!

It is a fast growing sport which involves skill and accuracy IMHO more than the normal amount of skill required to drive round a track, not a "rice boy" in asda car park on a thursday night with his 50 quid *****r E30 316 with all his mates driving 1.0lt novaaaa badged up as a 1.4SRI with a 4" peck head zaust and and out of tune ICE system

Drifting involves a lot more skill than accelerating around a race track. There is also a lot more driver involvement and control required, love it.

I dont also see no point to it, but then again whats the point of running like mad man 1/4mile wait 4 hours next turn and brake an gearbox.

There are different people, those who likes to drift are no worse than those who likes to drive trackdays or quarter.

Actually, drifters use lot of energy making VERY radical suspension mods and studying geometry of ones car, there are not singing in to forums around net and wheeping "i changed green top mounts and now road noice is too loud"

I hope that I don't offend anyone, but beeing and making one self better than other is crime.

Little room here amongst hobby scene. If some form of car hobby is needed to criticise it is the maxpowermagazine way, take 90hp mom's daily driver and put 10000£ to the bodykit.

Drifting WITH quattro, now there's a challange.
Saw a red S2 cupe (sebring) drifting around Rudskogen here in Norway(vikingland) this summer. That was an awesome sight. it maked the 2wd drifters look like they were on a 'sunday drive'.

I agree with you Will, i think the reason a lot of members on this forum don't like the sport is because they associate drifting with jap cars & fools in there chav carts i bet if there was a drifting event in the UK with just Audis (S1,S2's,Ur's) it would be a different story

look carefully @ this clip, i guarantee your love it !! (AndersS2):mischeif:

Nope, still don't get it . Same as donuts and burnouts, don't get that either. The problem is chav's seem to all love that aswell, this being the big problem. How long before they all start buying RWD poo boxes with no insurance and try it on the road. While your sat there in your pride and joy some muppet is trying to teach himself to drift and manages to drift right into your car or crowd of people. We've all seen the video of the saudi lads doing exactly that. Not for me thanks very much

Nothing against drifting per se but I struggle with the concept of deliberately making a car handle worse than it should, to make the rear end break traction - it goes against all principles of suspension tuning. But as I am a fan of the drags I will probably be shot down about handling (even though those cars are designed with a genuine performance purpose, whereas drifting cars are not).

If you like it, carry on drifting!

                          Sorry I dont agree.

there could be poeple practicing quarter mile runs, pracing quattro handling, practicing rally on the street next to you, Its not just the drifters who cause road accidents LOL!

If its about events : if i go to a well organised rally, i will still stand behind a thick tree if ur stupid enough to stand on a corner with a camera and a car slides into you its not really the drivers fault (ish), not to mention going to events that arnt organised at all.

And here we are with chav talk again, if max power and chavs start buying s2's, will you sell yours? I personally bought the s2 because I love the car, not that no chav has got one lol.

I agree with AnLe, its a sport. I personally dont like F1, but i have nothing against it nor pple who support it. Its a greate sport, just not one that I am enthusiastic about. Drifting seems more "fun" to me

personally, i feel drifting is to driving what figure skating is to skating. it's a skill not a sport.

and on a completly unrelated note: @Rotary boy, i can't figure it out but i'm always staring at your avatar! (they seem to follow you!)
