I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you've got the engine out. I redid the brakes with new lines in the front and a new line halfway to the back. It only saved about 10kg with the control unit and the wiring.Originally posted by roboIs this big job, can abs be removed without and sideeffects?
cheers
So, in conclusion, it would be a huge job with an engine in place, otherwise, it only took a couple hours to bend some new lines. No sideeffects at all...just plain and simple hydraulic braking.

I ran a line off the current (original OEM) master cylinder, to the passenger side front(LHD). Then the driver's side and the rear lines went to the bias controller. One side passes the hydraulic fluid through for reference (so that went to the driver's front wheel). The other side of the proportioning valve actually reduced the pressure for the rear line.
On my next project car, I am removing the OEM proportioning valve completely and put a cockpit mounted Tilton adjustable proportioning valve in the center console.

Hey Joe,
Suspension, well I was due to move home, so all the parts removed from the S got bolted back into her so I dont lose / break anything in the move! she is back to her fat old self! when my move is done, then the only suspension that I can really consider is the ultra expensive KW stuff. I dont Wwant to pay that much out, but H+R are not good enough, they can only give me height, no bound or rebound. they design those kits for full wieght cars so their kits are going to be off the mark for my weird bus and the oly kit I know of in existance that give my wagon height, bound and rebound is KW, so I'm in a corner on this one....
Hope things are good for you?

With 130 kilos out of the car, it came up by about 1-1.5 inches on the suspension, handled much more nimble, almost nervously I have to say!! but with all the suspension now totaly wrong and the car up by that amount, its no surprise there! if you do this, you MUST have height adjustable suspension.
What suspension are you running now-a-days, Martyn?Comment

Thanks for the update, Martyn. Things are good here...I'll shoot you an e-mail to catch up.Originally posted by MartynfHey Joe,

I'd be interested in getting some KW coilovers for my B4. There aren't any dealers in the US that import those kits...so nobody has them on their cars. With that said, I don't know much about the reliability of these kits. What makes the KWs better than the H&Rs? I'd be up for anything at this point because I'm only using Bilsteins in stock strut housings with height adjustable sleeves welded to the housing. The bilsteins aren't properly valved for my tastes.
