tina needs help

hi all my name is Mick i am Tina's other half .
she has asked me to put a post on here to see if anyone is in or near Blyth, or anyone that can offer some advice
she drove up there today fine, then went shop and when she got back in car and started it the exclamation mark flashed and beeped (as has always done) then when she pulled off wheel went heavy (no pas) then pas came back and exclamation came back on and flashing and when she broke it flashed but no bleep?

p.s. what pas fluid and brake fluid does she need please?

she needs vw/audi G002000, its cheap enough and doesn't rot your seals

Closest to original I've used in an emergency is Total LHM from Halfords. It is actually recommended for Citroen, but reading the composition and comparing with Audi stuff, they're virtually similar.

Belt slipping would cause heavy steering. Was it wet at the time? ?

not particularly wet at time, however i had been doing 110+ for about 200 miles ( i drove her up there and brought my new banger back you see) and i must say i drive for a living and that has got to be the comfiest,quietest, and safest feeling drive i have EVER done! i know steering would fail if belt slipped but am concerned about her whizzing back with some unexploded bomb(well that is what she keeps going on about??) under the bonnet tbh? lol

I had a similar problem a few years ago in my 2.8 coupe, but not sure if the S2 has the identical setup. ....

I had this occur when on full lock. It turned out that there is a PS pipe running around the engine block. This pipe was metal, but with a couple of rubber sections to take up the movement/vibration. One of the rubber sections split (just a tad) such that on the highest pressure, which is generated when on full lock before the bypass kicks in, some fluid would leak out, causing a slight drop in pressure and triggered the red exclamation mark warning light and beep.

It took a few weeks to get the pipe, so I just topped up the brake reservoir regularly to stop the usual beeping and tried not to use full lock.

Both the S2 and the 2.8 occasionally develope heavy steering for a second or 2 at low revs when parking etc and I gather this is normal (well....not uncommon anyway).

Unless she has had a dramatic drop in the fluid level, I would suspect she will be OK for the homeward journey, but stop off at Halfords for the top up. Then get the thing checked out.

I've got about half litre, could possibly get another litre (I'd need to ring my mate, when he gets up)
I'm 40 odd miles south from Blyth, but I'm assuming she'll be coming down the A1 ?
If so I'm only 10 mins away from junction 62 (Bowburn, one junction on from the Durham turnoff). Think I've got some brake fluid too if needed.

Ok Mick, no worries. I've got a litre and a half + some dot 4 fluid if needed.

Got home an hour ago.
