        Any views on Audi RNS-D / E?

I've just purchased an RNS-D off the bay for £199 delivered.

          Hi

Had Co Pilot for the last few years on my IPAQ it was Ok but just bought TomTom One V2 full eu maps version for £199 from Halfrauds and it's great.
Downloaded the latest speed cameras from GPSworld for £2.00 and some of their free POI databases.

It's small(fit's into pocket, light, bright screen, loud, easy to read and full eu maps and thr latest GPS chip thing. Why spend more? You can modify a few things like voices, splash screens etc if you feel like it.

Nearly fell for the Navamn N60i with it's pics thing and bigger screen they had that for £300 but then I thought Why? glad I went for the little TomTom now.

          Regards

Its not really a detector, but knows the locations of them. My dad has the Garmin Nuvi which has the TMC antenna built in so it can reroute on traffic info from radio too which is handy. Plus the case is smaller than the tom toms

I have TomTom 6 on my iPAQ 6915. Then I customized the beltholder and mounted it on an unused switchposition on the middle console. Loooks good & works fine with me.

I work for a company that means I go all over south Wales. I bought a TOM TOM 1 Europe a few weeks ago. 1 usb fag lighter charger is the only wire. a small bracket and easy to use touch screen. Lots of options and I have the camera location detector which is a good thing to keep you on your toes. The POI settings find filling stations hotels you name it. Best of all no fumbling with A to Z and trying to mark pages etc in towns and unmarked roads. Its also fun trying to beat its estimated journey time..

I'm perhaps the only one here not to have been bothered with any SatNav trinkets...

However, just discovered a site at http://smart2go.com which has decent looking mapping software for the wonderful Nokia 73 and other mobile phones. The basic package is a free Beta right now, but license fees (unknown to me right now) for an upgrade to a navigation package are available. Of course that needs a Bluetooth GPS doobry but this might work for very occasional users like me who don't like the dangly wires and obtrusive looks of some SatNav gizmos.

Mobile GPRS navigation is ok but your limited with the ease of use and the size of the screen. You need a Bluetooth aerial which needs to be on the dash or screen so its a wire. also one to the charger if needed as well as a bracket to hold it. The cost is higher than you think too if you use licensed software.

The TOM TOM is also portable for walking round towns. Its settings also enable it to navigate by avoiding routes such as motorways useful if your subscribed to the traffic update. I have missed being in 2 serious tailbacks with it...

I don't have a Sat Nav, however I do use the Road Angel (New). Although this is now a couple of years old it is obviously used for camera detection/blackspots etc. They have offered me their Navigator 6000 I think it is as trade in. Looks good??????????

TomTom is very good, and if you download the John Cleese voiceover, you'll have a bit of a larf on the way...
