Hey Jeffer, I am over your way in a few weeks and I will probably drive.
As I am sure that you are running out of old metal to practice on, how about I collect all the wishbones and subframes etc from all the forum members in the SE of England and drop thin in at yours. Then 2 days later when I drive back home, I'll stop in at yours to pick them up

Here's another picture of the tools.
First i'm about to do all the metal bits underneath the SQ replica. And not in black, but probably in dark grey/silver or similar to that...

Nice idea!. Though it may be a good idea to get them shot-blast or etched first.
Only say because, as I'm sure you know, the coating needs a good 'key'.
Jaguar had a big problem a few years ago when they powder coated their subframes. After a while the coating would start to lift and flake off in sheets!
...just down to inadequate surface prep.

I'll have a crack, then you can all laugh and correct meOriginally posted by kninioCould some body please explain me the difference between paint.. and powder coating ?
Paint is applied wet in multiple thin layers and either air dried or baked. Baking speeds up the hardening process (by some months actually) but does not significantly improve the final resilience of the paint. Unbaked paint is soft for many months. Once paint it is hardened, it is brittle and not particularly resilient to impact damage.
Powder coat is applied as a dry powder, using an electrostatic charge to attract the particles to the metal. It is then baked in an oven, where the particles melt and fuse together forming a thick and resilient coating. Powder coated items feel slightly rubbery and soft (hard to describe really) as the coating is very slighty pliable, making it far more resilient to impact.
Powder coating is great for suspension parts etc and has replaced stove enameling for wheels etc.

one big advantage on powder coat is that it has same thicknes of material in all the places even in the corner, with paint they normally get very thin layer only.
I have powdercoated my intakemanifold, only for the looks, but could it slower down heat transfer from engine to manifold?Comment
