This just boils down to weather you want to keep, it or claim and walk away. Panels are fairly cheap used and there will be enough of us that can help with locating bits. I recommend pulling the bits off (if you don't want to go the insurance route) and see whats gone on in the wheel area. Sal's your man for cheap used bits and i would gestimate you'll need about a grand to get it on the road unless you have chassis damage. Or then there's the claim, buy back and spend the money to get road worthy again. Depends how commited you are, like Jas, lol.

Take off the damaged parts and check out what the REAL damage is underneath it all, it may turn out to not be that bad at all, until you get under there to take a look you wont know, there are plenty of spare parts always turning up tho.

I think ive also got a Coupe (non S2) that will be getting broken altho im not sure of the bonnet type, it may be the earlier type, i'd have to find out.

Sorry to see these pics - hard to say from here for sure, but I reckon its fixable - it always looks worst with the wings and bumper in tatters. The strut mount and inner wing concern me the most but any good bodyshop should be up for this one. Its just a matter of time, labour, parts & paint.

Gotta say by the looks of those tyres that they were at least partly to blame for the prang. This is a warning to anyone else running around on fat summer tyres in this snowy stuff - you have very little grip despite the joys of quattro unless you have right tyres on... and even they have limits of course.

Sure it costs a few hundred quid to get extra wheels & winter rubber, but that is cheaper than the damage caused by this low speed meeting with a wall.

If fully comp., it definately is repairable. Don't let ur insurance company

I'd say the insurance company will write it off. As far as they're concerned, it's just an old car.

Definitely repairable though. I would'nt go for a re - shell though. It's very expensive to re - shell a car, even if the shell is free, as it's very labour intensive. looking at the inner wing, I would say the chassis rail will be bent, and the turret will definitely be past it. S2 crossmembers are quite tough, so very likely the other side will be pulled sideways as well.

The rest I would term as panel damage, no problems there. A lot cheaper to buy a front end (cut back as far as possible, ahead of PAS rack). Any decent bodyshop will have little trouble carrying out the work.
