I understand that fitting a standard exhaust system would make a serious reduction in the noise you are experiencingOriginally posted by stevieyidLooking into sound proofing my boot and maybe a little more under the carpet just reduce the drone i get at 2-3k rpm now i have my new exhaust. Steve,
I've sorted mine - turn the radio up another 2 notches
Personally I can live with it, but if I'd be a little embarrased to take passengers anywhere! They'd have a headache pretty quick I reckon...AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

That's what I would do, btu I think both Ross and Steve specified "sporty no compromise" when they had the systems built so haven't got a leg to stand on!
I will let you know how LOUD Ross's system is after I have seen him on sunday! The Perfectionist

There is already a lot of sound proofing in the car as it is!!!
Try taking off one of or both the front door cards and go for a spin, the amount of noise is unbelievable!
When i done it i thought the door was open or something!!Ant

How would you do that?Originally posted by stevieyidLet me no how it goes jon. I was thinking of doing the boot area and see if that helps
The rear quarter panel already has thick sound proofing on the back of the carpet.
You could put the dynamat style stick-on sound proofing on the inside of the outer wings, but you have very little access to do it. As for the final and largest panel....the boot floor, this would probably respond well, but you would have to strip most of the rear end, including the tank to access it.
That is a lot of work for unknown results. However, if you do decide to go for it, could I suggest that you take before and after measurements so that we get a definitive answer on this one

Didnt realise it would involve so much work. I will wait and see what happens with Jon before making my decision. Cheers3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

Steve, my bro has come up with an idea , i used to have a GT4 with a Nur Spec R(i know)
it had a removable baffle which reduced the noise bigtime my bro had a
idea about having two baffles made for the 2.5'' tips
I'm going to still put a little dynamate in the wheel well + rear seats

I only have 2 boxes on my setup now
The first box after the downpipe has been removed. Its a bit boomy at around 2700-3000rpm but thats the point it will resonate most and is usually the case on most cars.Greg

Backbox to Longlife:
"Thou shalt have no other box before me"
And they're a faithful bunch... Steve, didn't Longlife skip the centre box in your car as well? I'm sure putting one in would really help... could get one put in if/when you get the downpipe done, it crossed my mind, but wouldn't that add a fair bit of restriction? Guess I'll keep waking the neighbours up on an early morning start... if they're that concerned, they'll fit double glazing.
