Well to be honest with you.. comparing to your a2...

    S2 will :

    brake down more often
    cost more to repair
    have worse guel economy
    feel heavier and squeeky

in my honest opinion, its well worth it. 4x4 turbo... cant beat it.

You're saying the opposite in comparison to the other forum members opinion

Sorry didnt read what others said.

Just saying the s2 will brake down more often than a 2 yr old car.. and performance parts cost more dont they? and im guessing a 2.2L turbo drinks more fuel than a 1.4 does it not?

It will drink more fuel but that only depends on how you drive it... offcourse people don't buy S2's to drive like a granny...

            exactly.

either way you drive it u cant beat the fuel economy of a 1.4 engine in a ali chassis.

U cannot compare a2 with s2, and if you buy a s2 you should be prepared for bits to fail due to age.

Yeah, these are the things that stop me also from buying an S2...
I'm thinking of going the S3 way...
The 1.8 costs a little less on taxes here...

              Srry 'bout the hijack...

hi all, i'm also thinking about buying an S2 (sorry for the hijack Paul)...

found this one on autotrader - 120k, £5.5k, near birmingham, thinking i may take a look over the weekend...any advice on what to look out for.

Also, if i did think about buying it, do you think it would be worth me getting a mechanic to take a look over it first (seeing as I have little more experience than changing a handbrake cable on a fiat uno 6 years ago!)...

Not really a mechanic, but someone that knows their way round an S2. There are a couple of members in the Birmingham area that would help by giving it a once over I'm sure.

Just read the start of this thread and height wise am I a knats pube of 6'5" I have no problems in my CQ20. I must admit I have a fairly laid back seating position as I have had to in all my cars up to now. Other than a 4x4 or an MPV or something along those lines I am always going to have to adopt this position (one reason I want a cobra so I can stick out of the top!!!)

TALLPaul - I have had a CQ20V sine october last year, I have never had a running issue with it and has always proven to be a bit bomb proof. I have just replaced the engine with a 3B engine and am having even more fun now.

Right, thanks for all the replies poeple, my next step is to get a test drive in an S2, I think this will settle my mind!

there is a couple of audi (80) cabriolets very close to me (ie within a mile or 2) at the moment, I know these won't have the power or handling of an S2, but it is worth getting a test drive in one, to get an idea for how the S2 will feel to drive? There is a 2.8, a 2.0E and a 2.6E locally, which will be the most similar to an S2?

Alternatively, are there any members with an hour or so of Peterborough that would be willing to give me a taste of an S2/scare me ****less/get me hooked?

                        btw, my A2 is a 1.6, not a 1.4, official 0-60 is 9.8secs, so its not that slow...(sort of!)

I normally get between 35-40mpg at most, working it out the S2 won't cost that much more on fuel, so thats not a problem.

                        Cheers
                        Paul

No,no,no,no. I had a Cabby before my S2. The comparison between the 2 is insane.
Would you compare a A6 with RS6? because it has the same platform. Test drive an S2 if your going for and S2

                              hehe, maybe not then....!

Greg-s, thanks for the offer, what sort of power are you running? 280-300bhp (ish)? (going by your cars specs, I'm probably way off though! )

If you can take me for a spin that would be great.
