Just saying the s2 will brake down more often than a 2 yr old car.. and performance parts cost more dont they? and im guessing a 2.2L turbo drinks more fuel than a 1.4 does it not?
hi all, i'm also thinking about buying an S2 (sorry for the hijack Paul)...
found this one on autotrader - 120k, £5.5k, near birmingham, thinking i may take a look over the weekend...any advice on what to look out for.
Also, if i did think about buying it, do you think it would be worth me getting a mechanic to take a look over it first (seeing as I have little more experience than changing a handbrake cable on a fiat uno 6 years ago!)...
95 ABY Coupe...back on the road with new engine/oil cooler and bonnet!

Not really a mechanic, but someone that knows their way round an S2. There are a couple of members in the Birmingham area that would help by giving it a once over I'm sure.

Just read the start of this thread and height wise am I a knats pube of 6'5" I have no problems in my CQ20. I must admit I have a fairly laid back seating position as I have had to in all my cars up to now. Other than a 4x4 or an MPV or something along those lines I am always going to have to adopt this position (one reason I want a cobra so I can stick out of the top!!!)
TALLPaul - I have had a CQ20V sine october last year, I have never had a running issue with it and has always proven to be a bit bomb proof. I have just replaced the engine with a 3B engine and am having even more fun now.
GO FOR IT!

Right, thanks for all the replies poeple, my next step is to get a test drive in an S2, I think this will settle my mind!
there is a couple of audi (80) cabriolets very close to me (ie within a mile or 2) at the moment, I know these won't have the power or handling of an S2, but it is worth getting a test drive in one, to get an idea for how the S2 will feel to drive? There is a 2.8, a 2.0E and a 2.6E locally, which will be the most similar to an S2?
Alternatively, are there any members with an hour or so of Peterborough that would be willing to give me a taste of an S2/scare me ****less/get me hooked?
btw, my A2 is a 1.6, not a 1.4, official 0-60 is 9.8secs, so its not that slow...(sort of!)
I normally get between 35-40mpg at most, working it out the S2 won't cost that much more on fuel, so thats not a problem.

No,no,no,no. I had a Cabby before my S2. The comparison between the 2 is insane.
Would you compare a A6 with RS6? because it has the same platform. Test drive an S2 if your going for and S2

hehe, maybe not then....!
Greg-s, thanks for the offer, what sort of power are you running? 280-300bhp (ish)? (going by your cars specs, I'm probably way off though! )
If you can take me for a spin that would be great.
