Another tip....if they automatically add in a hire car cover premium and you have two cars in the house - just ask them to remove it, chances are you can easily share a car for a couple of weeks or so if needs be and it can save another £20-£40 off the final price...
Yeh i do this on the odd occassion

The reason they dont ask is because the insurance computers are linked in the cases of the major insurers so they can see the rates.

      [QUOTE=jubjub

It is only since I went back to an RS2 again that it has dropped to around the £500 mark.....

      QUOTE]

And then the man speaks to soon.

Got a letter on my doormat this morning. My insurance premium for this year - bearing in mind I Have had no claims and still got a clean licence - is now £660

With my poor maths thats roughly a 30 % increase.

oh .... i added my mum on the policy ... that knocked about £200 off...

also it depends on your area ... i heard of a guy similar to me having it £200 cheaper just because of his area...

good luck ... and keep looking... think i was 22 when i got my s2 ... and yes as they say in star wars .... with great power ... comes great responsiblity ...

my first car was a 2.8 audi 80 quattro. i paid 3k per year. if however i would of had a golf 1.3, it would of been 4k per year. go figure.

must be because audi 80 isnt stolen and crashed as often i gues.

Dan_s2_coupe: How the hell did you get that kind of quote! Elephant offered me 1800.

Cheers for all the replies, and I'd have to agree with you, I wouldn't want a normal 20year old driving round in a 150mph car either! But I am quite sensible now and have done more driving than most 20 year olds. Done almost 34k in my clio from new, 20k in my 306 and 2k in a corsa, and I've never had to commute any further than 3 or 4 miles to a job. Plus I've been back and forth to france in my clio 12 times now (840miles door to door) and learned the French way in the Alps on my season out last 2004/5! I wouldn't trust most of my friends from 18-25yr old in my S2 but I consider myself far more experienced than almost all of them.
Also, the way I've always thought about it, the way to be a good driver, bar the skills, is to actually care and actually strive to be a good driver. My Mum for example isn't a bad driver but she doesn't care what goes on around her so long as she gets to her desitnation OK. Driving properly and well takes much more effort than being relaxed with one hand on the wheel and sitting on peoples arses in traffic (which most of my friends adhere to!)

Anyway, gonna look for insurance soon, only 25days till my 21st now and I can get a quote for 2-4weeks in the future (depending on the insurer).
But to be honest, anything below 1400 will be a bonus really!

Decided to ditch my current company now. Privelege.com have offered me £530 for the year. I have bettered that with a quote for £475

Ok this is where I am at the moment...

Lancaster Classic Car has offered me a quote of £1188 with 8k/year millage... BUT no NCB are awarded on the policy.

I'm with Elephant at the moment on the Clio for £910/10months and when I get to 21 in sept 10th, I'll have 7months left on the policy, and they've offered to transfer the policy to the S2 for £317 extra. So thats like paying (near enough) 1300 for the 10 month policy which is 2/3's on the audi and only 1/3 on the clio.

                                Admiral offered me 1600

and the following companies quoted me:

                                Tesco - No, over 23yrs

                                Swinton - £3k

                                Alan Melton - £3k

                                Hastings - £3k

                                Premium Choice - £3k

                                Admiral - £1820.70 (500 excess)

                                4 young drivers.com - £4k!!!

                                Adrian Flux - 2.3k

                                kwikfit :
                                Sabre - £2.7k
                                zenith - £2.8k
                                Service - £3.3k

roadsure.ltd.uk - Car not old enough

Heritage car ins - car not old enough

Green light insurance.com - NO Insurance
