Hi i was wondering what RPM's was best for launching a standerd S2 with a homefry up the quarter mile. I usually launch at 3500 RPM but im scared to go any higher for fear of breaking something. Thanks for any advice.

Maybe a stupid question, but at 5000ish are you dumpling the clutch or do you let it slip a little?

Ok i had a few practice shots at 5000 rpm, what a differance it's made the car was even leaving skid marks on the road on take off
. By the way that was with dumping the clutch rather than letting it slip. cheers for the advice

nobody can tell what is the best launch rpm.
depends of lot of things.
what is the material of road.
what kind of tires you use.
what is the size of your tires.
what kind of weather, what temperature.
lots more.
i have launch control. i use between 5200 and 5800rpm.
dont try under 4000rpm. very dangeorus, you can break something easyly.--------------------------------------------------------

maybe.
try like this:
push the clutch pedal in.
engage the clutch slow.
when you feel the clutch is start to hold, push back
one centimeter.
launch to 5000rpm and engage the clutch fast.
never going to happen again.
need some practice--------------------------------------------------------

How can less rpm break things easier?Originally posted by aronmatic2nobody can tell what is the best launch rpm.

To little power to spin the wheels so more strain on the drivetrain?
If thats the case then I would have thought that it's purely down to what size/grade tyres you have and not rpm related, no?
Hope I've not sealed my own coffin asking this ques.
Come on someone sci-slaughter me.
