Use by dates - gotta see 'em in the fridge.

Frozen goods - last for ages - don't need to see.

The above is of course total conjecture and frankly a load of BS.

There is a light in your freezer, but unlike the fridge’s it only comes on when the door is shut,. To see this for yourself, just climb into your freezer and shut the door and wait...

A bigger question is why does bottled water have a use-by date on it?

IIRC, the answer to that has something to do with the chemicals in the plastic container reacting with the water over time.

When PET (polyethylene terephthalate) degrades, several things happen, mainly the formation of acetaldehyde and cross-links ("gel" or "fish-eye" formation). Acetaldehyde is normally a colorless gas with a fruity smell. It forms naturally in fruit, but it can cause an off-taste in bottled water.

When acetaldehyde is produced, some of it remains dissolved in the walls of a container and then diffuses into the product stored inside, altering the taste and aroma. This is not such a problem for non-consumables such as shampoo, for fruit juices, which already contain acetaldehyde or for strong-tasting drinks, such as soft drinks. For bottled water, low acetaldehyde content is quite important, because if nothing masks the aroma, even extremely low concentrations (10-20 ppb) of acetaldehyde can produce an off-taste.

PET is hygroscopic, meaning that it naturally absorbs water from its surroundings. Thats why its not a good idea to store next to strong chemicals.

I'm pretty sure our carbon store freezers have lights on the inside.

I'd agree with you on that, and they taste better still from a glass bottle I think.

The arm of the condemned is swabbed with alcohol before the needle is inserted. Along with its antiseptic use, the alcohol also causes the blood vessels to rise to the skin's surface, making it easier to insert the needle.

The needles and equipment used are also sterilized. One reason for this is because the needles are standard medical products that are sterilized during manufacturing. Also, there is a chance that the prisoner could receive a stay of execution after the needles have been inserted. Finally, it would also be a hazard for those handling unsterile equipment

there isnt a light in the freezer because how often do you visit the freezer in the middle of the night?

If God can do anything - can he make a rock so heavy that he can't lift it himself ?

Also if you choke a smurf, what colour does he turn?
