Holy hand grenade batman, that sounds like one hell of a near miss Glad to hear that you are all OK. I bet you'll be hugging your little girl very tightly tonight.

I had a near miss with my 2 year old son in the car and pulled the old man over to yell at him, only to find that his rabid dog of a 50yr old daughter was ranting at me for pulling them over. When I pointed at my car and yelled that her senile father had nearly rammed the side of my car where my son was sitting, she just stared in horror and was visibly shaken... then could do nothing but apologise. I only hope that that was the wake up call her family needed to decide whether this guy was fit to drive.

Did the police say what will happen to your man?

      Take it easy David

Did the police say what will happen to your man? He lost his license on the spot and will face charges for life endangerment. He will be able to apply to get his license back after all this is finished but he will have to retake his driving test and as the policemen that I met said "No chance he will ever get it back..."

Take it easy David Thanx Si.

To have your children safe is the best that anyone can ask for in life. Great that only a car got damaged.

OMG, I would like to see retest's for everyone. Just think when was the last time any of us looked in the highway code?
It would certainly get rid of some of the bad drivers or at least improve them. I find it hard to believe that at the age of 17 you are taught to pass a test (not how to drive) and then just sent out there with a lethal weapon with no checks until the day before your 70th birthday where all that happens is your doctors says you are fit to drive, crazy IMHO.
              rant off
David glad you and your family are ok.

Scary stuff. Really glad to hear that you and your family are safe.

These old people really do need taking off the road. My stopped my grandfather from driving when he was no longer safe.

                Cheers,

Glad to hear your ok after that david, my best mates wife got t boned at a cross roads a couple of weeks ago by an 80 year old who claims he never saw the red light!! she's still in a neck brace but it took most of the front of her saxo off it was a right mess, there should deffinately be a re test for older people my grandad is well into his 80's but we had to stop him driving cause his reactions were just too slow it was a really hard decision to make cause he lives in the middle of nowhere but we managed to sort out a taxi driver he trusts that will come and help him if none of the family are around and the roads by where he lives are deffinately safer for it. Anyway no real consolation but as they say cars can be replaced people can't and at least it wasn't the s2

Wow! Glad to hear everyone's OK

I think everyone should resit their test every 10 years regardless of age. It would make the roads a much safer place to be.

                          Glad all are ok.
Old (nasty, not a nice bone in her body) woman who lives behind me is absolutely "shocking" behind the wheel of her 800 year old rust bucket fiesta. Reversed into my wall twice, and she often drives down the street knocking wheely bins over. I'm going to padlock her garage door shut for the sake of everyone around.

I have to echo all the sentiments above - glad to hear that nobody was hurt in this situation.

My own mum has reached the age of 70 and she is currently going through the process of re-applying for her licence. Fortunately she still has all her faculties and doesn't do that driving the wrong way on motorways thing. I think she also knows that there will be a time to stop driving.

Take care on the roads everyone and keep your eyes peeled for the unexpected.

There are a lot of countries that require you to renew your license annually and you have to have an eye test every as well (ontario canada I know for sure), that said most of the driving test are done on closed tracks.
